Harmonix releases kick pedal with double bass adaptor

by Sam Naylor on April 8, 2009 at 2:29 am

Harmonix and PDP have announced that they will be shipping a kick pedal and double bass pedal adaptor pack for $24.99. The pedal is compatible with all iterations of Rock Band (every console), as well as Guitar Hero: Metallica and Guitar Hero: World Tour.

This is great for those who are either really good at the drums, or those who like to be frustrated by even greater difficulty. It’s a good deal considering that you might have had to shell out for a new drum kit to play the Expert+ mode in GH:Metallica. Oh, and don’t forget, folks, Guitar Hero:Metallica has the Zungre Seal of Approval™.

GH Tighty Whitey World Tour Adds Country Rock

by Chad Lakkis on January 8, 2009 at 3:11 pm

So you’re sitting in front of your TV with your partially unbuttoned dress shirt and your tighty whitey underwear asking yourself “how can my plastic guitar rock experience get any better?”

Well, the first thing you can do is invite a few of your buddies over and recreate the Tony Hawk, Kobe Bryant, A-Rod, and Michael Phelps commercial — and once the emotional high wears off from that, you can thank Activision by downloading their latest “Country Rock” expansion featuring: Rascal Flatts “Me and My Gang,” Brad Paisley’s “Ticks”, and Brooks & Dunn’s “Hillbilly Deluxe.”

This little taste of country can be yours for 440 MS points on XBL and $5.49 on the PSN. Yeeee-Haaaw!!!!

New Guitar Hero: On Tour Commercial is Enough to Make a Grown Man Cringe

by Chad Lakkis on October 30, 2008 at 12:38 pm

Seriously, who thought four grown men wearing pink dress shirts and white boxers sock sliding across a hardwood floor was a good way to market Guitar Hero: World Tour?

What type of Rock Band Group are Tony Hawk, Alex Rodriguez, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Phelps forming? A sissy band that caps off a long night of underwear performances in their living room with a pillow fight? Maybe they can call their band the “Old News Pretty Boy Ski Lodge Olympic Mike” Band. Why Mike? Who told you to do this commercial?

Activision, please hear my plea. Fire your ad agency. The quadruple piano intro is to testosterone as Kryptonite is to Superman.

Afterthought: Does anyone actually like these commercials? Does this make you want to buy Guitar Hero over Rock Band 2?

Guitar Hero World Tour Adds Sting and Tool Music, Likeness, and Venue

by Chad Lakkis on September 5, 2008 at 11:20 am

Activision announced today that Sting and Tool will be added to the lineup for Guitar Hero World Tour. In addition to their music, Sting will be contributing his voice and likeness to an in-game character, and Tool will be adding their creative input on the design of a new venue.

This is a nice step forward by Activision. The announcements of new tracks can get a bit old, but the addition of twists like this definitely help in my opinion.

Afterthought: What say you? Do in-game characters and band inspired venues matter to you, or would you just rather a more in-depth track selection?

Full press release and in-game screens available after the jump. Read more…

GC 08: PS3 Gets Peripheral Compatibility, Wii Gets Mii FreeStyle

by Demi Adejuyigbe on August 20, 2008 at 2:01 pm

Back when Rock Band first debuted, Xbox 360 users were pleased to find out that their Guitar Hero instruments were compatible with their Rock Band sets, and vice versa. Unfortunately, PS3 users became accustomed to getting the shaft when Activision refused to let the Fender Stratocaster to work with any of the future or past Guitar Hero titles.

Today, Neversoft announced at Leipzeig that all GHWT instruments will be compatibile with their Rock Band companions. Neversoft’s Brian Bright even went into details on how drum compatibility would work, due to the difference in the amount of pads- the orange pad, the crash cymbal, will map to the blue pad, but if a note is there already, it will map to the green pad instead. Yeah, I don’t get it either. Read more…

OXM Confirms 30 Guitar Hero World Tour Tracks

by Demi Adejuyigbe on August 13, 2008 at 8:47 pm

Hot off the heels of the leaked setlist that escaped onto the internet a week ago, a Guitar Hero community member leaked a picture of the latest issue of OXM, which confirms thirty of the songs that are indeed in the final version of Guitar Hero World Tour.

Not only does it list a wide variety of bands from Bob Seger to At The Drive-In, but it matches up almost perfectly with the leaked list from August 8th. If you look closely on the side, you can also see some of the venues that are in the game, including The House of Blues, Amoeba Records, an Aircraft Carrier, and an English Castle. Be on a look out for the next issue of OXM, where you should be able to see the full article, which goes into detail about some of the game’s features and venues.

Hit the jump for the confirmed setlist, as well as the leaked one from last week. Read more…
