Short and sweet, the boycott laden announcement of Valve’s Left 4 Dead 2 has made it’s way through the shit storm of hate to amass a pre-order amount four times greater than that of the original. Setting aside the hurtful past, Valve’s Chet Faliszek comments on the pre-order numbers telling CVG “I think people are just excited now,”

Aww, I just love stories with a happy ending. Maybe now is a good time for Valve to announce the development of Left 4 Dead 3. Too soon?

Hoverit Ltd, a UK-based design company, recently announced their new levitating lounge chair. Yeah, I know it’s a tongue twister, but say it slowly. Levitating. Lounge chair. Sexy.

However dear reader, before you question the validity of the (roughly) $9,620 price tag, consider this:

The chair floats.

How many times have you, the hardcore gamer that you are, gotten a back pain from sitting in a grounded (as in, you know… on the ground) chair? Couch to floor is so last week.

So how does this beast of a chair do what it does? Straight from the mouth of Hoverit themselves:

“Defying gravity with the use of repelling magnetic forces in both the bed and base, this contemporary lounger is comfortable, practical and stylish.”

Well, I wouldn’t really call it “practical,” but whatever.

One question though: What if someone like me was using a laptop while sitting in the chair?

Hard drive failure due to chair failure, that’s for sure. Can’t trust those crazy magnets.

Of course you are going to have to be willing to part with upwards of $300 (the current high bid as of now) to take this bad boy home.

I must admit, I own a life size statue of Spider-Man that I won from Blockbuster Video a few years back. As a warning to anyone seriously considering dropping the cash to bid on a geeked-out item like this, I’ll let you know that it was pretty cool at first, but it’s now utilized as a laundry holder by my girlfriend.

Warning aside, a giant Brootherhood of Steel statue would totally help transform your unfinished basement into the perfect Fallout gaming den.

There are geeks and then there are uber geeks, but tattooing your entire upper body to look like a tear-away Spider-Man costume grants you access to a category that is all your own. This guy is a super human geek with great power, and with great power comes … oh you know the rest.

I love Spider-Man, so much so that I painstakingly hunted down every issue of the Amazing series from 1963 up, but I would never do to my body what this man did to his. He embodies Spidey … literally. Hit the jump for another photo.

Holy crap.

At first glance, that image looks like a promotional set for the recently released LEGO Batman game, and looking closer wouldn’t tell you any different, but according to the description posted on Flickr for the image, it’s a cake. A fucking cake. If ever there were a reason to eat LEGOs (barring the complete disregard for the boxes’ DO NOT INGEST labels) this is it.

The cake was designed by celebrity cake designer (… what?) Elisa Strauss for Warner Bros’ launch party, and is by far the best video game cake I’ve ever seen. At this point, the only way to top this is for someone to create  a cake in Denis Dyack’s visage, complete with Playboy bunnies sense of complacency. Get to it!

So you like driving games, eh? Well, then you’ll probably find the images here are causing a strange sensation deep inside you. That, my friend, is want.

You see, this slick little aracade-style setup is the ultimate in Grand Turismo 5 Prologue gaming. It comes will all the extras and features you could ever want for a racing game except for tires and lots of open road.

A 40 inch screen flanked by a surround-sound set up is hooked up to a built-in PS3 with Logitech G25 wheel including pedals. Throw in a bucket seat and wrap the whole thing in a slick Plexiglas case and you’ve got yourself the most expensive gaming set up you can buy for a game that isn’t even out.

But you can be sure that when the game drops, this will be on every racers wish list. Right up there with a 2009 (insert fancy car name here). And it costs a measly $15,000!… which is considerably more than my 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra. I wonder why that’s not in GT5?

Now all they need to do is hook up a toaster to drop rubber bands into and you’ll even be able to smell the burning rubber! Now that’s immersion.

That is so cool!” And repeat.  You may wonder how exactly this qualifies as a Geeked-Out article, but I think that the dude in this video talking about how cool and fast it was what he recorded –  he geeked out all over the place. I know it’s not the intention of Geeked-Out, but shut up about it already. Video explains all.

Ah, eBay. The wonderful online marketplace full of miscellaneous crap that no one can be arsed to put on store shelves. The latest offering falling under the “do want” category is oceanic234’s complete collection of every single NES game ever produced- well, at least the ones produced in grey carts.

Citing family troubles as the reason for relinquishing such an epic collection, the only reason this doesn’t fall in the “must buy now” category is the modest Buy it Now pricetag of $3,800. Yowza.

Luckily, for anyone with the cash or bank-robbing skills to afford this pile of games, he’s throwing in free shipping and the instruction manual for (almost) every game offered. Though he failed to list all the games in the auction, he says that they are all cataloged in order at NintendoEarth.

I can’t afford these games, but at a price of less than 6 bucks per game, it’s definitely not a horrible offer, though I’m sure it will be difficult explaining to your friends why your TV is blocked by copies of Bart vs. The Space Mutants and Deadly Towers.

If you are looking for the video game equivalent to Hendrix, you may have found your man. Sixteen-year-old Chris Chike fingers plastic like nobody’s business, and in a world seemingly being taken over by video game guitarists, he is the man to beat.

Chris recently demolished the GH3 track “Through the Fire and the Flames” on expert mode en route to a perfect score. Some GH enthusiasts apparently argue that “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” is more difficult than the aforementioned GH3 track. As far as I am concerned, the thought of either on expert mode make my hands cramp up.

I will happily die never knowing what it feels like to score as high as Chris on any of the more difficult songs GH has to offer, because frankly, my fingers will never move that fast unless they have a female attached to them.

In honor of Chris’s amazing achievement allow me to quote his reaction upon completion word for word below…

“holy shit holy shit holy shit holy shit no way no way no way no fucking way oh my god oh my god oh my god holy shit 100 fucking % my hands holy shit holy shit holy shit holy shit that just fucking happened.”

Of course success in any walk of life breeds doubters, haters, and my personal favorite — jealous haters full of doubt. As I went to clip the video from Youtube, my eyes stumbled upon one comical response to his video that I just couldn’t pass up sharing.

To answer your question, no we are not, yes we do, and he most certainly is in the Guinness World Record Book. Chris held the previous high score of 880,920 before being dethroned in May of this year by Danny Johnson’s 890,971 score. The Guinness World Record Book is aware of Chris’s latest video (below) and is in the process of trying to confirm his 987,786 score. You lose. Thanks for playing.
