In a staggering display of either idiocy or trolling, someone has bid $1,725 for a leaked copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Either the bidder is a complete and utter dunce or it’s a dickhead fake bid, and in either case it’s a moronic thing to do. Four days before the game comes out, and you need to buy this fucking game so badly? Sheeeeeeeeeeeit.

The game has reportedly been leaked from Kmart and is “in hand” and “ready to ship” from the seller.

The Inevitable: Kinect Beta Listed on Ebay

You had to see this one coming. Yesterday, there was a reported Kinect Beta listing on ebay for $1200. The listing didn’t stay up for long however, getting not a single bid before being taken down. Whether taken down by the seller or ebay…the world may never know.

I wasn’t one of the lucky few involved in the Kinect Beta nor have I viewed the NDA. One can assume that somewhere in all that fine print there’s a rather large bit of text that says DON’T LIST THIS ON EBAY or rather something very similiar.

It’s hard to believe anyone would actually try to put their Kinect Beta on eBay. No doubt shady backroom deals have taken place where the beta hardware has changed hands, but did this guy really think that Microsoft doesn’t watch eBay?

Bandit Bungles Burglary Badly, Barely Beats Bubble Bobble

Maybe I should have went with Bangai-O since that was much better than any of botched Bubble Bobble games. Oh well.

Suburban Chicago is recovering after bearing witness to one of the most daring and intelligent robberies in recent memory. An unknown master thief broke into a 22-year old woman’s apartment around shortly after she had left it, most likely to pick up a copy of Nintendogs 2: Beyond Thunderdome. Obviously this burglar thought of everything, choosing a time where the victim would only be gone for about a half an hour to try his daring heist.

When the woman returned to her apartment, the burglar dashed past her and escaped. This was probably also a part of his plan, making sure the victim got a very good look at him in order to describe him better to the police. She was so surprised by this well-thought out burglary by this criminal mastermind, that she could barely keep herself calm to check her apartment and find out what was missing. Surely a man of such brilliance would have known where she kept her most valuable jewelry or her stash of money and absconded with that during his brief time in her home. It was then she realized the only thing missing was a pink iPod touch, and that her Nintendo DS lay splayed like a prostitute, still warm from the touch of this genius. Apparently instead of actually robbing the home, he sat down and began playing her DS.

Her entirely portable and pocket sized DS.

I guess mama did, in fact, raise a fool.

Gears 2 Goes Gold, Forum User Boasts Broken Release Date Hours Later

Today in WTF! news, Gears of War 2 is announced as having gone gold (which means the game has been finalized), and just a few hours after that, the game surfaces in the hand of a mysterious figure on the popular Neogaf gaming forum.

Coincidence? Bullshit? It doesn’t matter. What matters is that every time something like this happens the collective butt-cheeks of software executives clench in unison.

Eventually, games will come with remote detonators that sense a premature case ejection. Removing a game from its container before the specified release date will cause it to explode violently, and affected individual will have a hard time convincing anyone that they didn’t deserve every piece of gaming shrapnel they end up having to dislodge from their face.

Hey, I love reporting news and rumors as much as the next guy, but if continuously pushed, it’s not far fetched to think that developers will find better ways to protect themselves and the media they create at the expense of time and resources that could have been spent developing better content. Everything comes with a price.

Motorcycle SUV Collision the Result of “Video Game Adventure” (Video)

I have often thought about purchasing a giant Winnebago and going on a cross country “adventure”. Maybe pulling over on the side of the road from time to time for a “video game” break or two.

While my adventure would include the occasional use of video games, it wouldn’t be a “video game adventure”, no, those are reserved for idiot cyclists like the one below.

News out of Utah is that a motorcycle wrecked into a family of four traveling in an SUV. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The troopers who arrived at the scene interrogated the cyclist about the accident, and he responded by saying he was on a video game adventure. One office added:

“I don’t know whether he was trying to act out a scene in a video game or what he was trying to do, but he said it always worked for him in video games”

This is one Utah resident who shouldn’t be allowed to play video games, let along operate a motorcycle on the open road.

PC Demise? Mark Rein Calls Cliffy B An Idiot

Well, when we sat down with Mark Rein and the rest of the newly formed PC Alliance at this years GDC, we wondered if his loyalty to the PC would extend beyond the confines of the Moscone Center. However, his recent comments in response to a particular bayonet wielding designer may help to answer that question.

“Cliff’s an idiot! I’m kidding, obviously. Hey, Cliff is Cliff, and he is making a console game, and that is what he’s focused on, so that is what his thinking is all about. But as a company, we make PC games. We love the PC, it’s our heritage, we want to see it be strong, and we want to sell games like Unreal Tournament III and Gears of War on PC, and have them sell as well as they do on console.”

Interesting at the very least, however Mark is a very outspoken individual, so this really shouldn’t come as a surprise.
