Something that I’ve always respected about Sony is that they’ve put out at least four great franchises for their consoles. Back in the good ol’ PS2 era, we had Ratchet, Jak, Sly, Kratos, and Sweet Tooth. This generation, we’ve got Nathan Drake, Sackboy, Cole McGrath and Nathan Hale. The only thing missing from Sony’s franchises is the chance to get them all together and pit them against each other to see who would win Smash Bros. Style.

According to the Pale Gale Network (this guy is some kind of Know-It-All), Sony’s getting ready to change that. With the help of Superbot Entertainment, a new indie development studio, Sony’s going to pit all their mascots together in a bloodbath and see who’ll come out on top. The roster will feature characters above like Kratos and Sly Cooper, along with others like Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal, and maybe even James Bond. The only downside is the rumored name: Title Fight.  Meh.

PGN also says that the “To Michael!” commercial from October was meant as a tie-in to this game due to SuperBot’s Chris Molina tweeting up a storm about it.  The tweets have since been deleted as has his Twitter account.  SUSPICIOUS.

We also know that a big PS3 exclusive is being revealed at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards next week.  Could Title Fight be it?

Sony hasn’t responded at the moment, but we’ll keep you posted if and when they do. In the meantime, who do you think would win in a fight between all the Playstation mascots? I know a lot of people would think Kratos, but I’d put money on Cole. He can just call down a lightning storm, bitches.

Sony’s epic Greek murderfest trilogy God of War concluded last year. Since then, the team over at Sony Santa Monica has kept things pretty hush-hush. Over the past few days, rumors about their next title being a fourth God of War have surfaced. Naturally, Sony hasn’t commented, but this recent rumor adds fuel to the fire. MightyApe, a New Zealand retailer, has God of War IV pegged for a release date of September 28, 2012.

If God of War IV does exist, I bet it’ll probably have some sort of dancing. Maybe that’s why we didn’t see Kratos’ body after the credits in God of War III. Because he went to the club to dance.

The second week of September brings a day of remembrance, the start of NFL football and (of course) new video game releases.

NHL12 is the big multiplat muliplat bringing the swift hard-hitting power and finesse of the upcoming 2012 NHL season to gamers on the Xbox 360 and PS3. God of War Origins releases for the PS3 bringing Kratos’ PSP adventures to PS3 gamers at an affordable price. LittleBigPlanet 2: The Rise of the Cakeling brings LBP enthusiasts five new  giant story levels and integration with the PS Move controller and a brand new toy called  ”The Brain Crane”.

The Gunstringer makes use of the Microsoft’s anemic kinect by enabling gamers to control  an undead marionette  as he rises from his grave, bent on revenge. The PC finally hears the Call of Juarez: The Cartel as PS3 gamers can finally play God with From Dust.

Pick of the Week: This is an easy choice for me. My PSP died three years ago denying me a few choice releases. I’ve been wanting to play Kratos’ for years – God of War Origins.

Amazon Germany has listed a God of War: Master Collection for the PlayStation 3.  According to the listing this the Master Collection will include every God of War game to date (GoW 1, 2 & 3 and the PSP games Chains of Olympus and Ghosts of Sparta). Essentially a combination of the God of War Collection and the upcoming  God of War Collection Volume 2.

According to one of them fancy schmancy print magazines that talks about Playstation games, God of War 4 is in development and it’s coming next year!!

That’s right, Playstation mag PSM3 is reporting that September 2012 will mark the return of Kratos.

“PSM3 has heard from another source that God of War 4 is coming, and will hit in September 2012, our source works closely with the God of War universe, and let slip he’d be working on a related project at the same time.”

Well, this is certainly interesting news considering how God of War 3 ended.  We all knew it wasn’t the end of God of War, Sony ain’t gonna let that cow milk itself.  The only question is… what comes next!?

Thanks to the many years I spent studying Spanish (and then forgetting it), I was able to determine that this cosplay was, in fact, the real deal. Behold, the might and fury of Kratos. He slices. He dices. He dares to challenge the gods in the name of sweet vengeance.  Better yet, if you’ve gotten your hands on the PS3 version of Mortal Kombat today, you may have noticed this hulking antihero invading your challenge ladder.  Although he may not have looked as lifelike as this!

I am scared of this face.

Brazil’s Lexedur hath brought us Kratos, clad in Ares armor. The make-up and detailing here are jaw-droppingly good. Lexedur also knows how to convey pretty convincing rage. The picture above chills me to the bone and assures me that as long as I never meet Kratos in real life, I will probably live to a ripe old age.

These few photos I’ve found have been wonderful. I don’t often see cosplayers don armor – most opt to bathe in body paint and flex for the camera. However, this doesn’t always end in success.  Frankly, I’d rather see armor like this displayed in all its Grecian glory. Lexedur does not disappoint and also manages to pull off the bald look quite well.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today released a special extended trailer for Mortal Kombat, featuring more Kratos. Kratos will only be available for the PS3 edition (sorry Xbox only gamers).

Launching in April 2011 both a Standard Edition and Kollector’s Edition of Mortal Kombat will be available.

No details on what will be included in this Kollector’s edition (yes, in the press release they spelled it with a K).

PlayStation 3 owners who buy the next Mortal Kombat are in for a treat as the God of War himself joins the fight with his own fatalities.

Thanks to the January issue of the Official Playstation Magazine, we’ve learned Kratos will be a fully featured character with Kombat moves, fatalities and his very own themed kombat arena. Unfortunately, we’ve also learned he won’t be playable in story mode. But then again, when did Kratos even need a story besides killing everyone/thing in his path.

I’m a big Kratos fan. In fact, God of War 3 was one of the main reasons I bought a PS3. One of the great things about Kratos is he will “bring it” on the small screen just as hard as he will on a console.

Unfortunately my PSP broke a year ago. Oh well, might have to buy one again to play this awesome game!

While I currently don’t own a PSP, there’s very little chance anyone who does would have any reason to pass this game up. It looks fantastic, and if it’s anything like the first PSP title in the God of War franchise, then it will be a blockbuster hit.

If there is one thing we can be sure of, it’s that Kratos sure doesn’t mess around when it comes to ass-kicking. In this new clip from Ready at Dawn’s newest PSP God of War title, Kratos starts his own personal class war by beating King Midas until everything he touches turns to pain. Instead of gold, you see. Because everything Midas touches is gold and stuff.

This scene also shows off a more immersive “in your face” battle with up-close and personal brutality.

Personal brutality is definitely the best kind of brutality. So far, Ghost of Sparta is looking pretty impressive. It is nice to see the graphics of the PSP still being pushed a little bit further so far into its run. Plus, God of War, come on, of course it’s going to be fun. It’s the gaming equivalent of typing in all caps, except it might actually be cruise control to cool.

The new SoulCalibur game for the Sony PlayStation Portable, SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny, will feature the God of War protagonist, Kratos, as a playable character.

The above video shows leaked footage of the much-anticipated God of War 3. It;s not just a trailer this time, though; it’s gameplay footage. Nothing spectacular, but gameplay footage nonetheless. The video shows Kratos fighting some enemies, and then fighting a bigger enemy by bashing it’s head for about thirty seconds. Supposedly the game runs at a smooth 60fps most of the time, with a minimum point of 30fps in the more hectic scenes- if you care about that. Just watch the video before the leak is snatched away from us.
