New “Final” Mass Effect 2 Box Art Revealed

by Chad Lakkis on November 17, 2009 at 4:58 pm

mass-effect-2-box-final

The original standard release box art (shown above left) for BioWare’s Mass Effect 2 game revealed back in July has changed. The new art (shown above right) is what BioWare is calling the”final” box art for the highly anticipated sequel. Maybe the old one showed off a little more female crotch than EA felt parents would be comfortable with? Who knows.

I personally like the new cover choice. While there’s significantly less female anatomy to admire, the in your face close up shot makes you feel like your part of the team, and don’t we all want to be part of the team?

Check out the image below for a closer look at the new cover and make sure to let us know what you think of the new direction in our comments section. Read more…

Apparently Microsoft hands out “Microsoft Expert Zone” quizzes to retailers so that they can be better informed on the products that they’re selling. A recent quiz contained details on Mass Effect 2 DLC content, and as luck would have it, those details made their way to the internet. Read more…

E3 ‘09: Mass Effect 2 Trailer

by Sam Naylor on June 1, 2009 at 7:47 am

Here, have a Mass Effect 2 trailer. No no, it’s free. You don’t have to pay. Go ahead, watch it- there’s a potential spoiler there, so don’t do it if you really care about the plotline of the game. Perhaps you could get someone who doesn’t care to watch it for you and tell you how awesome the cities and stuff look, as well as the epic looking shot of the Normandy, but miss out any spoilers. Just make sure this person is really good at describing stuff. It’s a nice looking trailer.

ripten-interview-founders-of-bioware-talk-mass-effect-2-story-in-games-and-psycho-mantis

Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk

Emily Balistrieri and I had the rare opportunity to interview the founders of BioWare, Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, the minds behind Baldur’s Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire and Mass Effect about BioWare’s upcoming titles, as well as experience the almost tangible passion and curiosity that they have for making games, discussing the future of narrative and even their opinions on characters that break the fourth wall such as Psycho Manits.  It’s a unique look into the thought process of two visionaries, so if you’re into BioWare or ever want to create a game yourself, please read and enjoy.

Mass Effect 2: The Cerberus Connection

by Tyrell Jackson on March 16, 2009 at 2:25 pm

The release of the Mass Effect 2 teaser trailer has long passed and the speculation continues. Everyone is vying to prove his or her arguments correct but I believe the most palpable and chief grounds for speculation lie within the Mass Effect 2 teaser website that Bioware provides for us. Mass Effect 2 Teaser Trailer

by Dan Landis on February 21, 2009 at 9:51 am

Well, here it is — your first official look at Mass Effect 2. As far as teaser trailers go, it certainly has me excited about the game already, even though (like most teasers) it reveals pretty much nothing. Have a gander at the teaser… now!

No wait… now! Read more…

Mass Effect 2 to feature at GDC ‘09

by Sam Naylor on January 8, 2009 at 8:51 am

Bioware are set to be delivering a lecture at the 2009 Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco about the level design process of Mass Effect 2. A detailed description of the level design process is to be shown, and “graphical examples of a level” will be used to back this up. Of course, this mean we’ll be getting new Mass Effect 2 info along with it once everyone pours out of the conference hall. Hit the jump for the full details, but don’t expect anything necessarily interesting unless you’re into game design.
