Never underestimate a video game fan with some sort of artistic ability. This statue comes from the Deviant Art page of red3138. Check out his gallery to see his other work, which includes an equally awesome Samus Aran action figure.

The trailer for the game is above, and it looks great. Even though it’s clearly CG, I love the introduction, which gives a bit of a backstory to the game. But I don’t want to ruin it, so click above and enjoy the masterpiece that is Metroid: Other M.

We continue our countdown today with another fairly famous ass in the world of videogames. Any ideas? Well, it wouldn’t surprise me if you didn’t instantly recognize it as the girl in question usually covers it up. Not here, though. Read on to see our number 6 pick, but remember: some content may be considered ‘Not Safe For Work’.

Click images for a larger view.

#6 – Samus Aran (Metroid)

Metroid surprised the gaming world way back in the heyday of the NES by revealing that beneath all the armor, Samus is all woman. Break through that hard exterior and you’ll find a beautiful person inside — kind of like a metaphor for… something. Nintendo is teaching us that it’s what’s on the inside that counts, especially if what’s on the inside is a hot babe.

Check out that ass!

Surprisingly, Nintendo has actually sexed up Samus in recent years, going so far as to feature her in her painted-on Zero Suit in games like Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Of course, some people out there have different ideas for what the ‘Zero Suit’ really means, and it’s relatively easy to find pictures of a naked Samus. I honestly don’t feel the need to even link to them because the Zero Suit is practically already a naked Samus, she’s just blue.

I’m going to just stop there a give you this nice collection of pictures:

Curious what some Samus cosplay would look like? We’ve seen Samus in her armor before, but I found a pretty nice Zero Suit pic as well:

Funny thing is, Samus can be found in SSBB with her male ass counterpart, Solid Snake. Anyone who’s seen Metal Gear Solid 4 in action knows that Snake has some tight glutes, and pretty much any of these pictures could be him if you paste his face on there and get rid of the boobs. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t bring myself to type “Solid Snake’s ass” into google, but I found a humorous little sexcapade with Snake and the girls from Smash Bros.

I think we’ve proven beyond any doubt that Samus, despite her unwillingness to show it off in the past, has a sweet ass. Okay, she’s being practical and actually wearing a full protective suit to fight aliens, but that’s not gonna land her a boyfriend. Strangely, though, I’ve seen more pics than I care to have seen of an incredibly pregnant Samus, so I don’t know what that’s about. Maybe Samus is more of a freak than I thought…

Anyway, don’t forget to check back tomorrow to find out the number 5 pick on our Top 10 Nicest Asses in Videogames countdown.

While the Triforce pendant (14 karat yellow gold) is currently listed as one of a kind, TPJ states that anyone interested in having one made would be looking at around $2,000 in labor and materials. The Metriod pendant (sterling silver) is also one-of-a-kind.

Are you looking to aesthetically mod your Wii? Well don’t look here, because these designs are so good that they’ll surely discourage you from doing anything of the sort.

Tech Blog has posted five nifty Nintendo Wii custom cases. I’ve never even given any thought to modding the cases of any of my systems, but after taking a gander at these beauties, I’m giving it some serious thought. But I’m lazy, so it’s never going to happen.

I present to you – in some sort of loose order based on my prefences – the five cases.

Rockstar Wii

While this is my least favorite of the designs, it’s very impressive none the less. With all those sparkly lights, the Rockstar logo has never looked prettier.

Chrome Wii

While it doesn’t score very high in the originality department, this chrome Wii looks like the T-1000 just waiting for you to drop your guard and play some games, so that he can sneak in for the kill.

Samus Wii

You thought the morph ball transformation was impressive, wait until you get a load of Samus morphing into Nintendo’s latest console. Like the Rockstar case, this puppy sports a beautiful light up logo. Bonus points for the custom Wii Remote.

Zelda Wii

It may just be the rabid Zelda fanboy inside of me talking, but this is one of the best things that I’ve ever seen. The sword and shield look fantastic and that little triforce on the bottom of the front makes me squeal like a little girl.

Nes Wii

I’m stumped. I honestly can’t decide if I like this design or the Zelda design better. While it doesn’t have all the fancy attachments of the other ones, the creativity here is fantastic and the nostalgia factor is off the charts. I’m not sure why they put Revolution instead of Wii, but that’s a minor gripe that’s easily lost in all of the praise.

There’s long been a group of committed, tech-savvy people who like to produce their own custom arcade cabinets. Their latest design is an excellent Metroid themed masterwork, which cannot fail to bring forth nostalgic feelings for the gamers able to recall the era of gaming dominated by Nintendo’s NES.

The cabinet features Mother Brain housed within its MDF structure. For those inclined, you can shut off your entire knowledge of physics and pretend that the brain’s actually powering the machine. Not with good thoughts, though; she’s actually creating energy as she comes up with a series of plans to attack her captors and control the universe.

From the retro moulding to the glorious side-art, this machine is something its creator can be proud of.

Along with the bubble-topped joystick and 6 buttons, there’s a Trackball and support for NES, SNES, N64, and USB controllers. Yes, it’s got a modern heart, but the machine’s artwork ensures the machine’s got a convincing retro feel.

There’s a diary for those inspired, with all kinds of technical-discussion I can’t comprehend.

Ripten’s hats are collectively off to John Keeler, the man responsible for the machine.

Well, you knew it was coming. Nintendo has set the bar for gameplay and innovation since 1985, when it released its groundbreaking platformer Super Mario Brothers for the NES.

The gray, rectangular-shaped cartridge would revolutionize the way games were played and raise the videogame industry out of the ashes of the great crash that occurred earlier in the decade.

Shigeru Miyamoto, a man who needs no introduction, is the maniacal genius that manages Nintendo EAD (Entertainment Analysis and Development). He's possibly the most influential person in this modern video game empire, a kingdom that he helped create. Miyamoto would shine as Nintendo's lead idea man and obtain messianic status over the two decades for his contributions to videogames the world over.

His baby, Super Mario Brothers, was a bona-fide console seller. If you wanted to play it at home, you had to buy an NES, and everyone wanted to play. The game was like an adrenaline shot to the heart of an industry that crashed on poorly crafted software for graphically unimpressive consoles only a few years earlier.

With spot-on controls, challenging and intuitive level design, unforgettable characters and a high replay value, Mario showed us a glimpse of the future that was Nintendo.

But as this list shows, making one good game does not make you the world's greatest developer. While many promising companies are sprouting up in newly rented business parks, with high-budget, genre defying juggernauts in tow, time needs to be spent building a library before judgment can be passed down. For those of you who need things put in perspective, here you are: Super Mario Bros. sold more than 40 million copies!

Miyamoto received inspiration for his next opus by recalling his childhood. A young Shigeru once discovered a cave while trekking through the forests of Kyoto, Japan, an adventure that would linger until the boy became the man.

It was this memory of magic and wonder that would lead to the creation of one of his most vivid worlds-- Hyrule. The Legend of Zelda was a game that would, in many ways, show the possibility of becoming truly immersed in a videogame.

Before Zelda, games were closed track sprint sessions from point A to point B, all about gaining high scores and moving through portals. Zelda was more like a hike up an uncharted mountain. You were simply given a sword and an objective: save the world.

How you were to do this was in many ways up to you. Would you explore the wilds or brave the underground? Puzzle solving, boss battles, item collecting, secrets and exploration put Zelda in the spotlight, where it remains to this day.

Every few years brings a new adventure to the homes of gamers everywhere. The Zelda series has delivered unrivaled quality, time and time again. In 1998 Nintendo released what many consider to be the best game of all time: Ocarina of Time. Receiving perfect 10s from critics everywhere, the game would envelop a whole new crop of fans and keep the series popular almost a decade later.

And let it not be said that Zelda and Mario are the only mascots that would pave the way for the gaming giant that is Nintendo. Titles like Metroid, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, and Pokemon are interwoven into a gamer language, and they would further drive nails into the coffins of the competition. Lesser known carts such as Pilotwings, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, and Kid Icarus may not have the worldwide acclaim of their bigger brothers, but they also have quite a big space in a lot of gamers' hearts.

For many, looking upon Nintendo's list of games triggers heartfelt nostalgia. Remembering a particular Nintendo game is to remember that point in time-- where you were, what you were doing, and what kind of person you were.

What makes Nintendo such a remarkable developer is the fact that many people can plot an entire lifetime by the release of one of their games. The first all-nighter you pulled trying to defeat Mother Brain in Metroid. That time you gave your brother a black eye for repeatedly bumping you into the wall in F-Zero. And who could forget the time you gave up a chance to get laid at your buddy's house party that weekend in 1998, because you were determined to beat the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time? We sure haven't forgotten.

Whatever your story, Nintendo has touched millions of people's lives on every continent, and for that they will always be number one.
