MotorStorm RC and Unit 13 Announced For PSVita

The Playstation Vita has two more games to add to its impressive lineup. From MotorStorm developer Evolution comes MotorStorm RC, which puts you in control of an RC car. If you’re not too interested in the Vita, but still want the game, you’ll be pleased to hear that it’ll also be available on the PSN, and you’ll get access to it for both systems if you buy it for one. MotorStorm RC also comes with 8 racing categories, 16 tracks, and four player multiplayer on the PSN version. Look for this in Spring 2012 and check out the trailer below.

This next game comes from SOCOM developer Zipper Interactive. Unit 13 is a third person shooter that puts you in the shoes of one of six operatives, each with their own unique abilities. Through 36 missions across nine different locations, you’ll partake in missions with differing size and difficulty. Eventually, you’ll be able to take on High Value Target enemy battles. The game will also take advantage of the Vita’s WIFI and 3G capabilities by keeping you up to date on leaderboard positions, offering “Daily Challenge” content and unlocks, share High Value Target missions, and accept challenges from friends. Think Battlefield 3′s Battlelog meets Halo: Reach’s Daily Challenge system. There’s also co-op in the game that features high quality voice chat. Look for Unit 13 sometime around February 22, 2012, when the Vita launches in the US and UK.

Motorstorm 2 Teaser Trailer & First Details

Eariler than expected, we present to you the first trailer for Motorstorm 2. A refreshing change from the deserts, but full of the body pumping action of the original. We also have the first juicy details, including double the original game’s tracks.

That’s right. Even though Motorstorm had multidirectional tracks – with a possibility of three different routes, 8 tracks always felt a bit sparce. The sequel has 16 tracks, and this time you’re going to be driving on a remote Pacific Island alongside lush green foliage, mountainous peaks, flowing rivers, volcanic clouds, lava and scrumptious mud.

Monster trucks will make an appearance this time too, and it’s going to be tough fighting your way through the course against those beasts. 4 player split screen and 16 player online also make their way to the sequel.

Even though the trailer is CGI, it does offer a glimpse at the new gorgeous environments, and the promise of further destructability. Why not have a gander. Oh and before I forget, Motorstorm 2 will be released this Autumn.

MS2 Trailer at 6pm GMT: Capture Tease

The first trailer for Motorstorm 2 will be revealed to public eyes at 6pm GMT. Sadly reports tell us that it’s going to be CG, but tell us what you think about this first teaser image.

The first Motorstorm performed decently in comparison to its infamous CG unveiling, reaching much of the feel of the original trailer, if not perfectly the graphics. Racing games do not shy from CG trailers, with DiRT having its first unveiling in this manner.

It is rumoured that there was going to be ingame footage shown of Evolutions upcoming racer, but Sony want to hold it back just a tad longer. So all we’ll have is a trailer showing us new vehicles and environments. Motorstorm 2 will stray from the desert and enter into lush jungles and tropical islands.

Until clocks strike 6pm GMT, all we can offer you is the above teaser image. Mmm green.

Update: Motorstorm 2 Reveal Delayed

Here’s an update for those of you who read Roly Reyes report on an apparent Motorstorm 2 reveal. In the end Jeuxvideo had only had a premature ejaculation (an abrupt, exclamatory utterance) providing us with the deflating announcement that the reveal had been delayed.

In the end there was no French gift to be got, and Jeuxvideo regrettably told us that Sony had pushed back Motorstorm 2′s reveal by another week. It is our understanding that Jeuxvideo never had the new trailer exclusively, but that it would be simultaneously released on a number of websites.

Jeuxvideo were the only website to be struck by the excitement, giving us a countdown until 7pm on Wednesday 5th. They regretably decided to wait until that time to tell us that there would be no trailer for another week.

Whoever’s at fault, we expect that at the end of next week’s countdown we will be informed of another week delay, and continuously until Motorstorm 2′s release. It’s like a demented easter egg hunt on which you don’t get any bloody chocolate until the arrival of the second messiah.

Unofficial Word: Motorstorm 2 Announcement Tomorrow — Anyone Speak French?

Sony sure does love the French. First, they get to break news on Damnation and Recoil: Retrograde for the PS3. Now they’re the first with the announcement and media for the sequel of everyone’s favorite rally racer. What? No, not DiRT. Try Motorstorm 2.

Babelfish and Google Translations to the rescue once again, and it seems as though an announcement and a video (hopefully it’s gameplay) will appear tomorrow.

I’m gonna’ see about giving Sony a nice, stern talking to. I know they’re distraught with the departure of Phil, but they can’t just ignore us like this!

Check back tomorrow when one of your friendly neighborhood Riptenians report on the gift that the French will be giving.

US & Euro Playstation Store Updates: Snakeball Free? Update

We have the full European Playstation Store Update here at Ripten and Sony seem to have gone Christmas crazy again. The Warhawk Omega Dawn Booster pack was free for a limited time in Europe, and now it appears that Snakeball is free also – it could be a demo, or it could be the full game.

However, when you go to download Snakeball, the purchase will be confirmed but the store will not prompt you to download.

What’s going on Sony, you’ve gone a bit ga ga. These sorts of mistakes sometimes happen early on in a store update, and I don’t think any of us should be complaining if we might get some freebies.

*Update* – Snakeball was only on the Australian store, and the “offer” was soon solved with a price of AU$12.95. It has since disappeared, and whether it will return is unknown. It hasn’t made the UK update, but there is still a chance that it might appear.

Playstation Store Update: 10-29-07

It’s Thursday again, which means that it’s time for Sony to throw up some content on the good ol’ Playstation Store. The marquee release this week is PAIN, a game once unceremoniously touted as being thought up by a marketing department. If that doesn’t blow your skirt up, there’s plenty of DLC for your favorite Playstation 3 titles.

Despite those negative connotations, you’ve got a game that’s roughly reminiscent of Stair Dismount. Fling your little ragdoll dude out of his giant slingshot and then relish in the sounds of his torture as he slams into walls, skids across the pavement, bravely submits to gratuitous nut shots, and gets run over by a semi. It’s kind of like a Tony Hawk game without the skateboards, which means that it’s completely obnoxious. Even so, some potentially fun gameplay seems to lay underneath as you complete various challenges and combo your way to the nearest hospital. It’s all yours for an (admittedly tenuous value of) $9.99.

Otherwise, feel free to entertain yourself with a new Resistance Map Pack featuring Axebridge and Bracknell ($4.99 by itself, $7.99 bundled with the first pack), several new vehicles for Motorstorm including the Lunar-Tec Buffalo BigRig monstrosity, and fresh songs to shred to on both Guitar Hero III (Boss Battles) as well as Rock Band (Bowie Pack + Individual Songs, now how timely was my use of Jareth as a lead picture?). And how could I almost forget to mention the Oblivion expansion Shivering Isles ($29.99)?

Rounding everything out is a Timeshift multiplayer demo and a couple of inconsequential trailers. There’s still no sign of the HOME open beta or LittleBigPlanet. Granted, the year’s not out yet, but it does have us on tenterhooks. December is still hopeful for demos, though, with Burnout Paradise, Hot Shots Golf 5, and Devil May Cry4 all on track for the yule season.
