Anyhow, BioWare will be revealing a new game at the VGAs and apparently it will have tanks n stuff.

Obsidian Adapting Big Name Cartoon Franchise to Video Games

Developer Obsidian Entertainment of Fallout: New Vegas and Knights of the Old Republic II fame is working on a new game. But rather than it being a side story to well established franchise like New Vegas, or them taking over a franchise like with KOTOR II, they’re working on bringing a “leading animation franchise” to the gaming environment.

Game-centric talent agency Digital Development Management listed Obsidian as “working on an unannounced project for a leading animation franchise. Video games and licensed products, with the obvious exception of Batman, go about as well together as fireworks and a clown with poor juggling skills. It starts off as a good idea, but the end product is something more often than not pretty horrible. Usually, it’s because of the property. Let’s face it, Family Guy doesn’t exactly scream video game material, or MMO for that matter.

If I had to make a guess, part of me wants to think it’ll be Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time. The show is quickly gaining some steam, has an Emmy under its belt, and the creator admitted that it’d be cool to have a video game in the land of Ooo. What animation franchise do you think it’ll be? Arkham City Will Have New Game Plus+

New game plus is a feature commonly used in RPGs. At the end of the game, you’re given the option to start all over, but you keep all the stuff you’ve acquired from the previous playthrough and the enemies are tougher. At PAX Prime this past weekend, Rocksteady‘s Dax Ginn confirmed that Batman: Arkham City will indeed have its own New Game Plus.

“When you finish [Batman: Arkham City], you can then restart with all of the gadgets and all of the upgrades from the first playthrough, but you’re going to
need them in the second playthrough because all of the enemy configurations have changed. All of the assistance you get in combat with those blue
lightning bolts coming up against guys who are about to hit you, they’re gone. So you have to read their animations coming in. That’s why we really wanted to
drive home the deployability with Batman: Arkham City — taking those gadgets back into the streets, delivering justice a second time around. Really asking,
‘Are you the Dark Knight? Have you got what it takes?’”

With the news that Arkham City will have a boatload of sidequests to complete, along with the challenge rooms, the New Game Plus is just icing on the cake. Who wouldn’t want to be truly challenged as the Dark Knight?

Batman: Arkham City comes out for the PS3, 360, and PC October 18. I think you’ll be getting your money’s worth.

Namco Bandai Teaser Site Counts Down To A New Game

Today, Namco Bandai has launched a new teaser site that has a suspicious countdown.

The countdown is set to 214 hours which is roughly 9 days. When the countdown ends, Namco says that a new game will be revealed. Personally I’m hoping it’s a new IP because we could definitely use one in this over saturated market of sequels. Looks like we’ll find out in 9 days time. Stay tuned!

THQ to Debut Voltron Game at San Diego Comic Con

Voltron: Defender of The Universe, was a popular 80′s badly dubbed japanese cartoon that was later completely ripped off by Power Rangers. Not too long ago developer THQ announced they were working on a Volton video game.

Now we know more information as Voltron will make it’s debut on July 21st at the San Diego Comic Con. The game will be part of a Thrusday panel showcasing new Voltron toys, and comic books as part of a brand resurgence that will include a live action film.

How awesome was Voltron? Watch below. And yes, that is the voice of Optimus Prime introducing Voltron. Badass.

Strange Sony Game Teaser Features Man Walking Through the Desert

If you’re completely confused by the headline, you certainly aren’t alone. Sony of Japan has released a new teaser for an unknown game. The teaser simply features a man slogging through the desert.

That’s about all we know for now. The only clue is the word “desert” in the address bar, but the desert theme may be the most obvious part of this whole teaser. It looks like it could be a build up to an announcement regarding Uncharted 3, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one. The date appears to be set for next Wednesday, so we’ll probably know what’s up then.

Try not to watch for too long, it gets pretty depressing. As always, you’ll know more when we do.

More Tony Hawk Games Being Planned

I know this news really comes as no surprise – but it’s good to know that Activision hasn’t given up on Tony Hawk – and neither have we.

Just moments ago, the legend himself tweeted that more games are being planned:

This is certainly no surprise – the Tony Hawk franchise is one of the most recognizable brands in gaming. However, the latest entries have performed less than admirably when it comes to sales. What will the next game bring to the franchise?

Will they take the series back to it’s roots? Or will they keep pushing motion control technology?

We caught up with Tony back at the 2010 VGA’s – when we asked him about doing a Kinect game? He said, “Sure, why not.”

We haven’t given up on Tony Hawk – have you?

Epic ‘Not What You’re Expecting’ Gears of War Gameplay Promised for VGA’s

Gears of War design director Cliff Bleszinski is never one to shy away from the spotlight has promised to show off ”some new Gears of War gameplay” at the VGAs this December 11th.

To further whet your appetite, Cliffy B promises, “It’s awesome. You’re gonna love it. It’s not what you’re expecting.” Could this be the Kinect control functionality that we’ve been expecting? Probably not, The Cliffster hates to do the expected.

One of the bigger questions is if this has to do with Gears of War 3 at all. As it is, everyone is expecting a big announcement for a new game from Sony. Wouldn’t it be awesome if Cliffy B shows footage of a previously unannounced Gears of War Game? He’s always been one for theatrics and it would be a huge move for Microsoft. Unlikely, but yet another thing to ponder and another reason to watch the VGAs on December 11th.

Bungie Teases Life After Halo – MMO?

This morning at Joseph Staten’s GDC speaking engagement titled “Writing the Whirlwind”, he had warned the audience that he wouldn’t say one word about the developer’s plans for its first post-Halo game. But could Bungie’s writer and design director keep his mouth shut…of course not. When asked he stated:

“I think it’s a shame that we spent so much time working on this world called Halo and then we only let people spend six or eight or 10 hours in it,” Staten said. “Wouldn’t it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you, with lots of stories to tell, like a big, infinite storytelling horizon? Man, that would be great.”

Sounds like an MMO is a brewing. Possibly a Sci-fi MMO? Whatever Bungie has planned there are legions of fans ready and eagerly awaiting.

Sega to Announce New Wii Title Tomorrow at Leipzig Games Convention 2008

Reports have surfaced, and it appears that Sega will be announcing a new Nintendo Wii title tomorrow at Leipzig. At this point we know that the game is being developed by Headstrong, and as we reported a few days ago, Sega recently renewed the trademark on Jet Grind Radio.
