If This Doesn’t Get You Pumped For Star Fox 64 3D… Nothing Will

About a month before the original Star Fox 64 came out on the N64, Nintendo Power sent out what is pretty much the most amazing VHS tape ever to subscribers. Said video featured guys from Sony and Sega (Nintendo’s two biggest rivals at the time) kidnapping Nintendo employees and torturing a Mario doll for information on the upcoming Star Fox 64.

Back in 1997 it was hard for most people to see videos of games before they came out. A 56k modem was basically the standard and it would take hours to download a 30 second clip. Forget about HD. So, seeing a ton of footage from Star Fox 64 before release back then was seriously awesome.

What was more awesome was how this portrayed the console war! As RipTen’s King Nintendo Fanboy I must say I loved this video to death. Before Star Fox 64 came out I watched this VHS over and over again. I knew every line and my tape today even shows signs of wearing out.

This Star Fox 64 video will remain one of my favorite Nintendo promo pieces of all time even after hundreds of viewings. Even though Star Fox 64 3D won’t have a rumble feature, I still think this video should pump anyone up for the title!

After you see it, I hope you read my Star Fox 64 3D review and subsequently buy Star Fox 64 3D for the 3DS because it’s available NOW!

This time I obtained several cool Nintendo goodies. I was able to pick up some Mario and Yoshi tote bags at Toys “R” Us, my girlfriend bought me a Mario Kart 64 puzzle, I bought various Nintendo magazines/players guides, and finally I once again completed my North American Club Nintendo collection by obtaining the Game & Watch Ball reproduction. The King Nintendo Fanboy’s Collection Showcase: Nintendo Power 100 Coins

Over the years I’ve added many great items to my Nintendo collection. Even though I’ve gained a large horde of Nintendo goods, I have yet to show much of it off. That’s what the Nintendo Collection Showcase is for.

Previous Showcase Item: Limited Edition Super Metroid Poster

The item I’m showing this week are some commemorative Nintendo Power 100th Issue Coins. The coins were available for sale in the Nintendo Power Super Power Supplies catalog that came with the 100th issue of Nintendo Power magazine and that’s where I got these. These coins were just one of several items being sold for the magazine’s 100th issue and I may showcase more of those items in the future.

Zant Figures: Nintendo Collectors Journal 10/4/2010

This is my largest Nintendo Collectors Journal to date, so hang in there! The first thing I have to show off this week is my latest issue of Nintendo Power Magazine. I love the cover and am especially happy to see Little Nemo on it! For those of you who aren’t old enough to know about that game, I feel sorry for you. This issue of Nintendo Power also came with a double sided Super Mario Bros. poster.

I was also able to finish my Mario Key Chain collection as well as get the last tin I needed in this particular series of Super Mario Bros. Collectable figures. Both of these came from Toys”R”Us so if you’re interested be sure to check out the store or website.

This week I finally received my Dragon Quest IX hat in the mail. I was able to get this hat by purchasing Dragon Quest IX at Best Buy. This offer was open to Reward Zone members who are also part of the Gamers Club.

I made sure to pick up the latest Nintendo First Party game release this week, Samurai Warriors 3 for the Nintendo Wii.

Over the weekend I hit up several yard sales, small local game shops, and seedy dealers from various places and was able to walk away with some great deals on Nintendo stuff. I was able to get the above lot of Nintendo goods for $7.00. A nice window sign, and various Nintendo wrist ware. A great deal if you ask me.

I bought this copy of Battleclash for $1.00. I know Dave Oshry is in love with this game.

This Game Boy Advance box is the box only. I got this for $5.00 and it includes all the manuals and everything that came with the hardware. Yeah I’m one of those people who likes having boxes. The guy I bought it off of thought I was crazy but I don’t care.

I got the above lot of games for $30.00. Games include Alleyway, Pokémon Silver Version, F-Zero Maximum Velocity (Not For Resale), Golden Sun, and Metroid Fusion. The Madden game was just given to me by the seller for free. He wanted to get rid of it and it kind of makes me sick too. The Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team is still sealed. Should I open it? Let me know what you think.

Both of these items together cost $12.00. I needed the red Game Boy Pocket so I’m pleased.

I bought this GameCube set for $20.00. The only reason I really got it was because I wanted the somewhat uncommon Indigo Clear controller. The controller has some great control stick as well. The GameCube works but the button to open the top sticks a bit. I’ll work on it this weekend and repair it to its former glory.

The set of three Nintendo 64 controllers and the third party memory pack cost me $20.00. Two of the control sticks are in excellent shape. The Donkey Kong Jungle Green controller has a stick I would rate as moderate but I needed it for my Donkey Kong Green Nintendo 64 console.

The above lot of games also cost me about $20.00. Milon’s Secret Castle, Tetris, and Blades of Steel are just box and the game. The two John Elway’s Quarterback games and Roger Clemens’ MVP Baseball are all complete.

The above set of games cost me $18.00. I was happy to get the Tetris 2 manual as I have the box. I still don’t own the game but whatever. It will come to me when it’s ready.

This Pokémon travel bag was a whopping $1.00. It’s in amazing condition and my girlfriend is extremely jealous that I got it.

This SNES with two controllers, AC adapter, and Ken Griffey Jr.’s Winning Run cost $4.00. The SNES doesn’t seem to work though, but I think I may be able to fix it up. Even with a dud SNES I think this was a great deal.

The plush Donkey Kong and Pokémon Book cost me $3.25. How can I pass up deals this good?

This NES Game Case cost me $10.00. I like it a lot because it has the Nintendo logo and can be mounted onto the wall!

And finally I got this Tommy Hilfiger Game Boy Color for $10.00.

This week was ridiculous for me and I still have two special items that I didn’t show off. Hopefully they will be shown on the next Nintendo Collectors Journal.

Sorry that it’s been a while since my last collectors update. I had to go to the Wii Games Summer 2010 Grand Championships and I’ve been playing other games as well. I have, however, come across many great items.

The first awesome item I received was a Wii Games Summer 2010 official competitors track jacket. The back says Wii Finalist and the left sleeve says National Championships. On the left breast it has the official Wii Games Summer 2010 logo and slogan.

I also was able to obtain several other items from the Wii Games Summer 2010 Grand Championships. Some official Wii Lanyards, flyers about the games, free t-shirt card, and player cards from the event. I also got ton of Wii Games Summer 2010 pins and other informational papers regarding the rules of the games and more.

Here is a close up of the pins I obtained at the Wii Games Summer 2010 Grand Championships.

On the last day of the Wii Games Summer 2010 Grand Championships the event staff was just trying to get rid of the official event baseball caps. I made sure to grab myself some of them as they were giving them out in stacks. I ended up with over 20.

Also being handed out to finalist at the Wii Games Summer 2010 Grand Championships were Wii Fit Plus tote bags. I ended up scoring three of these.

At the Wii Games Summer 2010 Grand Championships I earned myself a Super Mario Bros. Yahtzee Collector’s Edition. The last one my sister and I won at the Wii Games Summer 2010 NYC Main Event ended up going to her so I’m glad I got one for myself.

The last item I got from the Wii Games Summer 2010 Grand Championships is the box that the Super Mario Mushroom Sour Candies comes in. These candies come in a Mario Mushroom tin and are sold at many stores. Having the box is nice though.

Recently I also bought a copy of Metroid: Other M which came with the official Metroid: Other M Art Folio. This Art Folio has many pictures of character art and in game screen shots with a short description written on the back of each. Also pictured is a copy of Professor Layton And The Unwound Future that I purchased just last Sunday.

And finally I received the latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine.

The first item I came across this week is a Nintendo Power Collector’s Special issue named “The Official Guide to The Legend of Zelda”. This issue gives a quick glimpse at every Zelda title ever released except for the CDi and Game & Watch Zelda games. The special issue also has information on various Zelda characters and items.

What makes The Official Guide to The Legend of Zelda really nice is the fact that it comes with 10 posters and 18 stickers. Since this issue is only available on newsstands I highly suggest you make sure no jerk stole some of the posters/stickers before you purchase it.

I also bought a Nintendo World Championships 1990 reproduction t-shirt. I think the original shirt had Donkey Kong Jr. at the top instead of Link though. Regardless I purchased this shirt because I thought it would be cool to wear it to the Wii Games Summer 2010 Finals that I’ll be competing in next week in Los Angeles.

I didn’t get that many new items this week but I figured I’d report on them anyway. The first item I found was a Mario Bros. t-shirt. I got this t-shirt featuring the Mario Bros. and several other characters from the series at my local Target for only $9.99. A great deal on a great Nintendo shirt.

Next up is the latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine. I have every issue of Nintendo Power so this issue will the rest of my collection. What I like about this issue is that it came with a double-sided Metroid Other M poster. I’m not sure if this poster is included in issues sold in stores so don’t just buy the issue expecting it.

Nintendo Power Teases New RPG: Threatens “MiB”-Like Memory Zapping

Towards the end of this month’s Nintendo Power, the fine folks over at that publication teased us by saying “Next month’s cover story is an RPG so fantastic, so engrossing, so epic, and so hush-hush that we’d have to erase your memories if we told you what it is. In fact, maybe we already did. Role-playing fans, get ready for a big one.” What could it be?

Alright, let’s break this down. It’s coming from Nintendo Power so obviously it’s on either the DS or Wii. I’m speculating it’s for the DS, as they have already sold a metric fuck-ton of them: 65.64 million compared to the Wii’s respectable 19.72 million.

As for the game itself, depending on how hyperbolic Nintendo Power regularly gets, this could be anything from a Final Fantasy V remake (that we already know is eventually coming), or something that we shouldn’t hold our breath for, like a remake of Final Fantasy VII, Chrono Trigger, or a brand new iteration of Golden Sun.

It’s possible that I’m reading too much into it, but maybe it has something to do with a character and their memory, “we’d have to erase your memories if we told you what it is.”

It’s still a month away and I hate waiting, but as NeoGAF user ‘duckroll’ reminded me, within that month there are 4 issues of Famitsu and 3 issues of Jump. Anyone want to teach me Japanese?
