Pokémon Heart Gold/ Soul Silver released in Japan, cheating begins after 5 minutes
by Sam Naylor on September 14, 2009 at 2:20 am
The DS remakes of the best Pokémon games in the series, Gold and Silver, were released in Japan today. The games are, unsurprisingly, selling well. In fact, some stores are sold out already.
The games come with a pedometer that gives you in-game rewards for walking, named the “Pokéwalker”. Obviously gamers don’t like to walk anywhere, so they’ve started cheating the system by shaking the pedometer however they can. As you can see above, people are apparently getting quite creative with it. I guess that’s the most you could ask for. To be honest with you, I was planning on doing the same thing when I get my copy.

Heart Gold/Soul Silver footage is reminiscent of Pokémon Yellow
by Sam Naylor on May 10, 2009 at 2:22 amThis footage, caught by PokémonFan.net from today’s Pokémon Sunday TV show, shows our first look at the recently announced Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. The video shows a game that looks very similar to the recent Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, but with a striking difference: a Pokémon, probably Chikorita, is following the player, just like Pikachu did in Yellow. That, my friends, is double nostalgia. Oh, and fans of the starting Pokémon from Gold and Silver can look at the new renderings here, here, and here.
Rumour: Pokémon Gold and Silver remakes coming?
by Sam Naylor on May 3, 2009 at 8:40 am
Pokémon Sunday, part of the TV section of the Pokémon monolith, has hinted that Nintendo are about to announce remakes of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver. The show is going to announce something on next week’s episode, although at this point we don’t know what; but there is a theory that it will be for these two games. The show this week gave notice to two spherical decorations [see image], of the gold and silver variety.
Perhaps it’s nothing, but it’s interesting to speculate, especially when, like me, you’re of the opinion that Gold and Silver are the best in the series. Many think that remakes are pointless, but personally I welcome an update to these fantastic games.

by Dan Landis on August 21, 2008 at 11:06 am
The 2008 Pokémon World Championships took place this past weekend, along with the first-ever Video Game Showdown. Over 400 players from nearly 30 countries qualified for and competed in the Championships, but the United States swept first place in all three divisions of the Trading Card Game (TCG) finals. Additionally, the U.S. won the Junior Video Game Showdown title, while a kid from Hiroshima, Japan, won the Senior division (though I’m not sure if it was revenge-driven or if his mutated genes gave him an edge).
