Blockbuster Extends Rental Promotion to Gamers for the Holidays

It seems like everyone is capitalizing on holiday deals today.

Blockbuster is offering a new promotion, in time for Thanksgiving and Black Friday, where, through the end of the year, new Blockbuster customers who purchase Skyrim, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Modern Warfare 3, Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, Arkham City, or Gears of War 3 will receive a free month of unlimited movie and game rentals. Current Blockbuster members will only, sadly, receive a $5 gift card.

For new customers, this definitely looks like a pretty sweet deal, although I’d read into whether or not you can cancel membership after the first month with this promotion. Current Blockbuster customers, it’s probably a good idea to go seek out GameStop’s Black Friday deal if you’re looking for any of the above listed games for cheap.

For a limited time, CCP are offering a free Cerebral Accelerator Implant to all new paid accounts. What is a Cerebral Accelerator Implant? I’m glad you asked.

Cerebral accelerators are military-grade implants that significantly increase a new pilot’s skill development. They allow new capsuleers to more rapidly absorb information of all kinds, and as a bonus also enhance spatial processing abilities that are critical for weapons handling. The only drawback to this implant is that capsuleer training renders it ineffective after a while; as such, it will cease to function for pilots who have been registered for more than 35 days.

To celebrate the release of the Mythic Map Pack, Microsoft have allowed all of their loyal customers, even the ones who don’t pay extra money to them, to play Halo 3′s multiplayer. Why not? It seems the best way to promote your game today is to dress up Media Molecule’s lead character as that of your own. If you’re a fan of the Capcom fighting series, you will apparently be able to pick up the character costumes shown above individually and as a package deal. No word on price or release date just yet. Sit tight.
