Rockstar Delays Max Payne 3, Now Coming This May

Rockstar Games has announced the release dates for Max Payne 3, on consoles and PC- and almost all fall in May this year.

Max Payne 3 will come out for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 15 in North America and May 18 internationally. The PC version will arrive May 29 in North America and June 1 internationally.

Nice to see Rockstar announcing a release date for the PC version of a game before the console version comes out. Considering Red Dead Redemption it’s nice to get a PC version at all, to be honest.

NINTENDO UNVEILS DEEP AND DIVERSE SOFTWARE LINEUP FOR EARLY 2012

New Kid Icarus, Pokémon, Rhythm Heaven and Mario Party Games Are on the Way

REDMOND, Wash., Dec. 13, 2011 – As some people hunker down for a long winter’s nap, Nintendo is getting things fired up. The first quarter of 2012 offers great new installments in popular franchises for both the Nintendo 3DS™ system and the Wii™ console. Nintendo has something for everyone, from family fun to three-dimensional adventure.

On the Nintendo 3DS system, Capcom’s Resident Evil® Revelations launches on Feb. 7. In a new chapter of the hit survival-horror franchise, players fight a new enemy and virus in 3D without the need for special glasses. METAL GEAR SOLID® 3D Snake Eater from Konami arrives in the first quarter of 2012. The game is a re-interpretation of METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater, and offers a rich jungle world with customizable stealth and camouflage options. On March 23, the epic odyssey Kid Icarus™: Uprising soars into stores and lets players help the winged warrior Pit fight Medusa and her Underworld Army.

The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS will also be busy with a variety of downloadable offerings. Dillon’s Rolling Western™ brings tower-defense strategy and touch-screen driven action to the Old West. Armadillo ranger Dillon defends pioneer villages against waves of attacking rock monsters using gun towers, defensive structures and his own exciting attack abilities. In Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword™, players travel to ancient Japan and guide a young warrior as he battles waves of enemy soldiers. Players must identify the enemy’s attack, dodge and counter-attack with the mystical Sakura Sword to win the battle. The critically acclaimed VVVVVV and NightSky from Nicalis, mind-bending action of Mighty Switch Force from WayForward and immersive 3D visuals of Mutant Mudds™ from Renegade Kid™ round out a diverse selection of downloadable games.

Nintendo is also introducing an optional accessory that gives Nintendo 3DS owners a second analog stick to control compatible games. The Circle Pad Pro will launch in the United States on Feb. 7. It will be sold through GameStop stores and online at http://www.gamestop.com at a suggested retail price of $19.99. The Circle Pad Pro is a comfortable cradle that holds the Nintendo 3DS system while adding an analog Circle Pad on the system’s right side. The attachment also adds additional shoulder buttons to give it a feel more akin to traditional console controllers. It is designed as an optional accessory and is compatible with Resident Evil Revelations and METAL GEAR SOLID 3D Snake Eater.

On the Wii console, Rhythm Heaven™ Fever arrives on Feb. 13 at a suggested retail price of $29.99 in the United States. The game asks players to test their rhythm in more than 50 easy-to-learn, tough-to-master minigames to prove they’ve got the groove. Two weeks later on Feb. 27, PokéPark™ 2: Wonders Beyond lets players take on the role of Pikachu™ and his Pals — Oshawott™, Snivy™ and Tepig™ — as they try to make it through PokéPark and discover the secrets of a mysterious new world. On March 11, Mario™ and friends reunite for a new party game adventure in Mario Party™ 9, which introduces new game-play elements to the series such as boss battles and vehicular travel across a wide assortment of stages.

Bethesda Announces Release Dates for RAGE, Brink, Hunted and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Bethesda has given gaming geeks like us the world over a reason to be excited today, well actually four reasons to be excited after they just went on a release date announcing frenzy!

They’ve announced the release dates for four of their upcoming AAA titles. Hunted: The Demons Forge is due on June 1st in North America and June 3rd in Europe. Hunted is a fresh take on the old-school dungeon crawl experience and is shaping up to be a genre defining experience.

Quakerlands … Uh, I mean RAGE, is due on September 13th in North America and September 16th in Europe. RAGE is set to include intense id-style first-person shooting action, breakneck vehicle combat and a huge world full of gameplay opportunities and areas to explore.

Brink, a sort of Mirrors Edge, Team Fortress and Call of Duty hybrid is slated for release on May 17th in North America and May 20th in Europe. I’m personally excited about this and I can’t wait to see how the free-running aspect meshes in with the gunplay.

And last but definitely not least, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is due for release on November 11th 2011, so 11-11-11 – pretty easy to remember eh? This release has me a bit perplexed as to how Bethesda is expecting Skyrim to go up against the other big November AAA releases including the latest rumoured Call of Duty title, Uncharted 3 and Gears of War 3.

Gran Turismo 5 November 24th Release Date Confirmed

The long awaited and recently delayed release of Gran Turismo 5 has finally been given a green light release date. According to the Official Sony PlayStation blog, GT5′s virtual rubber will hit the road just a few weeks from now on November 24, 2010.

Those who followed our E3 2010 coverage from the Sony Keynote know that original release date promised to us was November 2, 2010. In fact at the time of the announcement, Epic Games VP, Mark Rein (sitting directly behind me) yelled “really?” in disbelief. Turns out Mark’s skepticism was justified.

As it stands right now, we’ll all have to wait exactly 22 additional days. Of course, they could very well delay it again, but let’s cross our fingers and pray to the Sony Racing Gods that they don’t. Vroom! Vroooom!!

Dead Space 2 Coming 2011?

This listing from the GameStop website has surfaced on the internet (that’s where you are now). As you can see (with your eyes), the listing sets the date of release at the third of January 2011. Obviously this is over a year from now; it’s not often that we start hearing about a game this long before it launches, unless it’s something like Final Fantasy XIII, which has been in development for around 2000 years (and Chad’s been posting about it since then, too).

Take what you will from this. Could be a typo, could be a complete guess from a GameStop employee, could be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. My guess is that it’s just a placeholder, since almost no information about the game has been announced. We don’t even have a cover image yet. Stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion of this episode of “will this game be released when we think it will?”

Street Fighter 4 Console Release Dates Announced

Capcom’s Unity Blog reports that the console versions of Street Fighter 4 will be released in the US and Europe on Feb. 17 and Feb. 20 respectively. Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will be released at the same time, the blog reports. There was no word on the PC version.

Are there any Street Fighter fans here at Ripten? I was a fan of Street Fighter 2 (and am looking forward to the HD remix coming soon), but since I never really played the others, I feel like I might enjoy Street Fighter 4 more than the true hardcore fans, be it only because it looks gorgeous. Any thoughts? Let us know in the comments.

There have been smidgens of review scores from PSM3′s Christmas Edition, but not so much has been seen of the news section in the magazine. And oh, there are a bunch of treats held within its pages. A lower than expected review score for Assassin’s Creed, but make sure you come back here for our thoughts on that game next week. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, we can move onto the good stuff. Within the pages of this Christmas Edition lies nuggets of insider news. From Warhawk downloadable content, to EA working on a snowboarding game…which just might be a next-gen SSX.

However, there’s more exciting stuff. Firstly, Infinity Ward is rumored to be working on an all new IP, expected to hit in 2009. Second, a next-gen Hitman should be coming in the Summer of 2008, and thirdly Ubisoft Montreal is bringing Far Cry to the PS3 in 2008, possibly even early 2008, but at the moment they are busy working on Prince of Persia (!).

Yet, perhaps even more exciting than all of this, is the news that Insomniac is in full swing with Resistance 2. We told you a few weeks ago, based on information we received from a trusted source, that Insomniac was looking to hire game testers for the sequel, and it appears now that our source was right on.

With the games global unveiling due for early next year, Insomniac hopes to release the game late 2008. That is insane. A strong PS3 game every year without fail just shows how incredibly talented those guys at Insomniac are. At this rate Resistance 2 might even release before Metal Gear Solid 4 (I jest). Finally, the magazine states that Sony is busting their butts to have Syphon Filter ready for release on the PS3 in 2009.

So there you have it, lots of exciting things going on away from the publics eyes. Here is PSM3′s remaining insider news:
