True Crime: Hong Kong’s Successor is ‘Sleeping Dogs’ – Debut Trailer, Screens and More

Square-Enix today revealed Sleeping Dogs as the latest game in the True Crime series. Activision is out, Squeenix is in, and so is the new title. Dig it?

Sleeping Dogs puts players in the shoes of of undercover cop Wei Shen, tasked with taking down the criminal Triads from the inside out. It will take place on the island of Hong Kong and the story will deal with themes like loyalty and betrayal.

Much is being hyped about Sleeping Dog’s Imaginative combat system. Supposedly, combat will seem natural and players will easily be able to perform martial arts from an extensive list of moves and easily pull off other tasks such as shooting while driving.

Like previous games in the True Crimes series it will be an open world. According to Square, “every street corner, market stall, harbour dock or city skyscraper can become an opportunity for intense shoot-outs, adrenaline-fuelled street races and intense, brutal martial arts combat.”

Three Ninja Gaiden 3 Characters Revealed – Screens and Bios

Tecmo Koei has revealed three new characters for Ninja Gaiden 3 and included screens and bios. The new characters are named Ishigami, Mizuki and Momiji.

Read their bios and check out their screens below:

Ishigami — Officer of the External Affairs division in the Japanese Ministry of Defense. When he learns of the armed uprising in London he seeks the help of Ryu Hayabusa.
Mizuki — Flight Officer in the Special Security Unit of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. She takes direct orders from her superior Ishigami and accompanies Ryu throughout his mission.
Momiji – A female Ninja of the Hayabusa Village, she is the only female oracle of the Dragon lineage. She helps the wounded Ryu to ease his curse and accompanies him on a mission to defeat the Dragon lineage’s arch nemesis, the Black Spider clan.

Ninja Gaiden 3 launches on March 20th in North America and March in Europe for PS3 and Xbox 360

New Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD Screens Kickflip it Old School

Activision and Robomodo want to bring the Tony Hawk series back to its roots. No more gimmicky controls like with Tony Hawk: Ride, just solid tried and true gameplay with a standard controller. Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD will be the series’ first game on consoles that will be offered exclusively as a downloadable game.

Dead Island ‘Ryder White’ Story DLC Announced – Screens and Details

Deep Silver has announced new story DLC for Dead Island, which allows gamers to play out the story of Ryder White.

The DLC will focus on what Ryder had been doing in the events before and during the Dead Island campaign, and it shows his dual identities as a military man and a loving husband.

The content will bring with it several new hours of new content under a playable Ryder, as well as two new blueprints and weapons. It’s being billed as a single player campaign.

Ryder White DLC will be available on February 1 on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus Dated for PS Vita Launch, Stunning New Screens

Tecmo Koei has announced today that Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus will release on February 22nd – the PS Vita launch day. Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus will be much more than a simple remake of its PS3 brother as it will make use of Vita features such as the touchscreen, gyro sensor and rear touch pad. Players will also have the ability to toggle through first and third-person view.

As you can see from the screens below, it’s quite a good looking portable game.

New Max Payne 3 Screens Feature Stylized Ass-Kicking Multiplayer Action

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – 150 “Ultra” Quality Screens To Die For

It’s often been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, if my previous musings about Skyrim were roughly 7000 words, then these 150 screens should be worth roughly over 9000. Yes, that never gets old.

These 150 screens have been selected from the thousands I’ve taken during my first 75 hours in the vast lands of Skyrim. They were taken with Steam, and are therefore only inferior .JPGs, but both our database and yours will thank you for that.

These were all taken on “Ultra” settings with no modifications made to the game whatsoever. Other than the pictures which have been obviously altered, the majority of these shots have not been edited in any way.

Are These The First Screenshots of GTA V? No, They’re Not.

Yesterday, you may have seen some apparently, “leaked” images of Grand Theft Auto V.

Well, upon closer inspection, many people noticed these were obviously faked and could be easily made with a mod.

Despite the fact that the heavily edited map images were ripped right from San Andreas and that they put the dollar sign after the 235$ and that the guy in the picture is clearing standing RIGHT HERE and has just been reskinned… yeah. They’re fake.

Just to be sure I emailed my buddy at Rockstar and he was all like “lolwut?”

Oh internet…

Serious Sam 3 Is So F**king Old School It Hurts (Hands On)

Whoever said, “they don’t make ‘em like they used to” was right about nine times out of ten. That tenth time was reserved for Serious Sam 3.

In case for some reason you’ve been counting, yes, this our third hands on preview of Serious Sam 3. Why? Because the game still isn’t out despite PC gamer cries for an old school FPS in the wake of whatever it is you’d call the on-rails phenomenon that is Call of Duty 5-8.

But let’s not talk about that. Let’s not talk about Battlefield 3, let’s not talk about Bulletstorm and let’s certainly not talk about Duke Nukem Forever. Let’s talk old school.

This Is Not Battlefield 3

There once was a time in the FPS genre when the only thing you did more than shoot was strafe. When you pinned your pinky to the shift key, sprayed and prayed. A time when you could inexplicably carry 16 weapons at a time and tiny bits of health and armor were scattered all over the world for no apparent reason. A time when level design meant something other than going in a straight line and shooting whatever generic enemy was right in front of you. These were good times. ”Serious” Sam Stone wasn’t around back then, but somebody in Croatia obviously was. Croteam’s Serious Sam first burst onto the scene back in 2001, and old school FPS gamers the world over rejoiced while they spilled blood and bullet casings.

Fast forward 10 years and Sam is finally back in a major way. A new engine, new features, but that same old school attitude. How old school is Serious Sam? He makes Prince jokes. Yet to be fair, Prince just got big in Croatia… so it’s understandable. Serious Sam 3 is what it sounds like when doves (and Duke Nukem) cry.

So fucking old school it hurts? Yes. Both my character and my physical self. My eyes are bleeding, my fingers are numb, I have no health, no armor and I’m being chased by a pack of angry Headless Kamikaze’s through the streets of a soon to be post apocalyptic Egypt. I love this game.

Serious Sam 3 has a multitude of multiplayer modes, 16 player campaign co-op, a survival mode and more PC settings than you can shake a boomstick at… but all I got was the single player build to mess around with for a month. Luckily, it’s long, it’s strong, and it’s down to get the friction on. I was given 11 out of the game’s 12 chapters and I played them back and forth, front to back, over and over again, on every difficuly from Tourist to Serious. On tourist, even a console CoD gamer has a chance to clear the level. On Serious… you will die. Dark Souls has nothing on 500 Kleer Skeletons, Kamikazes and Gnaar all coming at you at once. Seriously.

It’s hard to explain just how insane Serious Sam 3 can get if you’re not familiar with the franchise, and even harder to explain if I told you that there was an in-game option to turn all the blood into candy. Luckily, I’ve made this short video presentation for your amusement:

Yep. that’s pretty much Serious Sam 3 in a nutshell. Now, imagine scenarios like that with up to 16 player co-op. My frame rate hurts just thinking about it.

As you may have noticed, the game also looks pretty damn good. That’s thanks to Croteam’s new and aptly named “Serious Engine 3.” What this engine does (besides pump out fantasticly detailed visuals) is allow for hundreds of enemies to be on screen at once with minimal frame rate loss. I don’t know how it does it, it just does. However, even my mammoth gaming rig slowed at bits during certain boss battles where I was literally in an acre wide open space being chased by roughly over 9000 screaming meanies. Sure, they could have scaled it down, but that ain’t what Serious Sam is about.

For those who are interested, the game takes place in some sort of destroyed semi-futuristic Egypt and is apparently a prequel to whenever the evil armies of Lord Mental took over the Earth in 20XX. However, if you play Serious Sam for the story you should probably start calling yourself Lord Mental.

Sly Cooper Goes Ninja With New Screenshots

It’s been a few months since Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time was announced at E3, and news has been scarce. We know that the adventure brings Sly, Bentley and Murray back together, and that the advnture has them traveling through time. We’ve now got info on one of the areas the Cooper Gang will be going, and who they’ll be meeting along the way.

If you played the original Sly Cooper, you may remember Sly’s ninja ancestor Rioichi Cooper, creator of the Ninja Spire Landing and, in the game, sushi. Rioichi’s in a bit of a jam after being framed for poisoning the Shogun, so Sly and the gang decide to help him out. Later on, after you’ve freed him, Rioichi becomes a fully playable character, voiced by Steven Blum of Wolverine and Bulletstorm fame. Check out some new screenshots of Rioichi in action below:

Three Hours With Skyrim, Two Brave Bosmers and One Lying Khajiit

No, I didn’t find any Werewolves.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I’d like to tell you a story. A story of might and magic, choice and consequence, romance, adventure, camaraderie and intrigue. If I could think of any other awesome nouns I’d throw them in there as well, but alas – on with the show.

If you haven’t already, please read my last hands-on preview of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which details the very first encounter with Vampires and much more.

But where to begin? How about in the real world.

As I walked into a posh hotel suite in midtown Manhattan I was greeted by what has become a common sight for me. Roughly eight Xbox 360 developer consoles hooked up to 27ish inch flatscreen TV’s all running the latest press build of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. As usual, there wasn’t a PC in sight. I had expected as much, yet I was still slightly disappointed. But I digress…

On the far side of the room, a PR representative was apologizing profusely to Kotaku’s Biran Crecente who had apparently found some glitches durng his playthrough. But I had no time for such drama, I was on a mission. So, I grabbed what I recall was a turkey and brie sandwich and a bottle of sparkling water (they feed us well) and sat down in the corner of the suite in front of one of consoles. As I gazed upon a familiar screen that said little more than ‘Skyrim’, I noticed most of the other writers who were scheduled in my time slot had yet to arrive, so I figured I had at least a small head start. Huzzah.

Where to Even Begin...

Once again, I wasted no time in the character creator (unless you count the 10 minutes I spent tryng to make an albino Argonian at a reader’s request) and quickly selected my usual traits. Bosmer… tattoos… mohawk… good enough… let’s go!

Now having had hands on time with Skyrim before, and having already seen Riverwood and the surrounding areas before, I knew that this time around I had to go where no member of the press had gone before. I had a laundry list of questions from readers, but how could I possibly answer them all in just three hours?! Should I head to the Bards College in the far Northwest? To the College of Winterhold in the far Northeast? All the way down to Riften, which was clearly named after RipTen? I knew one thing was sure, I was not going to dick around in Riverwood or go on that bloody Golden Claw quest! Oh no, this playthrough was going to be different!

However, there was a problem. I was level one and I had nearly no gear. How on earth would I survive anywhere in the vast lands of Skyrim if I ventured off alone into the wilderness? I wouldn’t, I’d surely be killed! So, with the most epic fucking sigh you’ve ever heard, I begrudgingly trudged toward Riverwood. I assure you, I cursed the divines the entire way.

I Don't Even Own The Game and I've Already Seen This Over 9000 Times...

As I arrived in Riverwood, I knew I needed to get myself leveled and geared up fast if I was to have enough time to explore beyond what had already been seen and done by my brothers and sisters in the gaming press. I quickly came upon a Nord named Sven and his mother, arguing about dragons as they always seem to do. Except instead of passing them by, this time I decided to talk to Sven, to see what he was all about. Maybe he had a quest for me?

After going through some dialogue options about how crazy his mother surely was, it turned out he did indeed have a quest for me. You see, Sven had been dating Camilla, whose brother Lucan owns the general store in town. However, Sven knows Camilla is in love with a Bosmer named Faendal. Sven wanted me to bring Camilla a forged letter that would convince her that Faendal was no good. For this, he would pay me some paltry sum. I agreed to his task, knowing full well I’d never take the side of a Nord against a fellow Bosmer, but he was none the wiser.

Did Sven not realize I was Bosmer? And why would he task a complete stranger with the future of his relationship? No matter. Videogames, amirite? I walked further into town to find Camilla in her brother’s store. As I suspected, one of the dialogue options presented was to tell her that Sven had forged the letter and that Faendal was in fact a stand up guy… or elf in this case. I chose said option and Camilla was noticeably upset that Sven would attempt to do such a thing. She instructed me to find Faendal and tell him at once… so I did.

I easily found Faendal by the lumber mill. He looked a lot like me. Tall, thin, handsome and Elven. I liked him immediately.

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkland Screens and Release Date Revealed

Even though Battlefield 3 has just launched worldwide, EA and DICE are wasting no time readying the expansion pack as they just released a new set of screens. The DLC included four remastered maps: Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsula. The expansion also includes five new dog tags, achievements/trophies, three new vehicles, and ten “iconic Battlefield weapons”.

Prepare to go Back to Karkland when it launches in December!

Four New Max Payne 3 Screens Dive In (In Bullet Time)

Hot off the presses are four new screens for Rockstar’s long awaited Max Payne 3.

After seeing the game in action for ourselves at New York Comic Con, our hype levels for MP3 have hit critical mass and we can’t wait to be diving around in Bullet Time on Max’s dark and dangerous new adventure.

For those of you who are looking to catch up after Max Payne 2, here’s the rundown from Rockstar:

Max Payne 3 takes place several years after the events of Max Payne 2. Still haunted by his past, Max leaves the NYPD and the United States to take a job in executive security and protection at the suggestion of Raul Passos, a former acquaintance from his early days on the police force.Max ultimately finds himself in SãoPaulo, Brazil, working to protect the wealthy Branco family consisting of Rodrigo, a real estate mogul and his two brothers; Victor, who’s an accomplished local politician and Marcelo, a party-loving Euro-trash playboy. But when Rodrigo’s wife Fabiana is kidnapped by members of the Comando Sombra gang while under Max’s protection, all hell breaks loose and Max finds himself caught up in something much larger than a simple kidnapping. Alone in a strange country, Max is quickly in over his head in an extremely volatile city.

New Skyrim Screens Show off an Assassin Finisher, Draugr Lord and Aurora Borealis

As I sit here and work away tirelessly on my next hands-on preview of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the least I could do for you in the meantime is provide you with some new visual imagery to whet thine appetite.

Behold!!

What we have here are many things. First and foremost, that Assassin style slow mo stealth kill screenshot is amazing. Whoever capped that, you have my thanks. Next up we have a magnificent Aurora Borealis from the Northern Coast. We also have shots of the Marshlands and the Tundra as well as a lovely shot of an Orc guard… guarding something. There’s also a shot of a standing stone of Magicka and a rather intimidating looking screenshot of a Draugr Lord thrown in for good measure. I’ve also included that shot from last week of a bound bow being fired at a bear, because it’s quite awesome and I intend to find it ASAP when I finally have the full game in my hands.

Last but not least we have a shot of a guard standing in the southernmost town of Riften, which was clearly named after RipTen.

Nvidia Unveils 3DVision 2. Bigger, Better, Sleeker and Cheaper.

Men In Black Game Announced to Release Alongside 2012 Sequel

Activision, king of the movie tie-in games, has announced a Men In Black game that will release with the 2012 movie sequel.

In a press release today Activision VP David Oxford promised the game (simply titled Men In Black) will be a “genre-bending experience” with Hollywood-level production values.Very few additional details released except two screens we have below.

Men in Black 3 the movie will release May 25th 2012, so by extrapolation we can assume the game as well.

Thrilling New GoldenEye 007: Reloaded Multiplayer Screens and Trailer

Activision released a whole bunch of new Goldeneye 007: Reloaded goodies including new screens and a multiplayer trailer. The trailer and screens show off the multiplayer side of the game.

The screens show some of the characters, customized load outs, gadgets, weapon attachments and other details. They also display the return of the classic 4 player split screen that no doubt brings feelings of nostalgia to many gamers.

I don’t know about you but I am PSYCHED and looking forward to pawning noobs in the 16 player online multiplayer.
