Hands-On: Damnation Multiplayer
by Emily Balistrieri on October 20, 2008

Thursday night Blue Omega showed off their vertically bent steampunk shooter, Damnation, to the press at Bourbon and Branch in San Francisco. After loitering a bit in a pseudo-secret side room (the venue is prohibition-era themed) we settled in to the Xbox 360 system-link set-up in a semi-adjoining back room, where the fuse promptly blew… Read more…
Hands-On Preview: Dark Void
by Andrew Podolsky on July 22, 2008

In our last E3 podcast, we talked about how shooting in and out of cover is definitely in this year. But what about fighter pilots from the 1930s that get sucked into an alternate universe through the Bermuda Triangle, where human survivors are fighting evil alien robots in a world with no ground to stand on? That sounds at least a bit original, doesn’t it? Strap on your jetpacks, and we’ll dive into the world of Dark Void. Read more…

Wii Review: Castle of Shikigami III
by Shaun Hinklein on June 25, 2008

Straying a bit from traditional shooters, in this colorful game you command a series of flying sorcerers destined to take down evil ships, demons, rival sorcerers, and immovable objects. I stress immovable because unlucky first-timers will perish attempting to destroy them. Trust me, you won’t find much in the world of shooters more demeaning than dodging intense fire brigades and a flood of ships only to crash and burn due to a mighty wall. Read more…

Xbox 360 and PS3 Review: Army of Two
by Alex Navarro on March 21, 2008

Apropos of its title, Army of Two is a tale of two games. One is a fantastic looking, conceptually cool cooperative shooter that seems primed to pick up the slack of the dearth of quality co-op games in the wake of Gears of War. Its counterpart, on the other hand, is a depressingly repetitive, aggressively stupid, and extremely short game that wastes a ton of great potential. Read more…

A new game in the DonPachi series is headed for Japan.
The Amusement Machine Operators’ Union show in Japan is generally a fairly low-key event here in the West. This year was host to the first playable appearance of Street Fighter 4. You’ve heard about that, but what did you miss? Read more…
