Sega Announces Sonic & The Black Knight - Product Page Goes Live On Sega.com

We told you yesterday that Sega would be launching a Sonic & The Black Knight product page on Sega.com, well here it is. Below is the descriptive copy for the game, directly from the newly launched product page.
Sonic returns to the Wii™ on a wild ride through a storybook world of Arthurian legend in his brand new adventure, Sonic and the Black Knight™. Designed exclusively for the Wii, Sonic and the Black Knight brings a new twist to Sonic gameplay by combining Sonic’s legendary speed with frenetic swordplay action that makes full use of the unique Wii control system.
In this strange, enchanted medieval world, Sonic wields a sword in his effort to save the day. Encountering many friends and foes along the way, Sonic shows them what it takes to be a true hero and the ultimate knight. Master the sword and unravel the mystery behind this intriguing adventure…
Sega also issued a press release (available in full after the jump) which explains that the game is a continuation of “Sonic and the Secret Rings” storybook series, with a medieval backdrop. Sega Responds: Sonic & The Black Knight Product Page Hits Sega.com Tomorrow

Sega has responded to the Nintendo Power cover featuring Sonic & The Black Knight. The company’s official message board admin, Clumsyorchid, posted the following message to their community:
“I can confirm the game is indeed real, however you won’t get any info on it from me, you’ll have to wait until we post the product page tomorrow on SEGA.com and read the Nintendo Power article.
Discuss!”

Confirmed: Sonic & The Black Knight Is For Real

Update: Sega has responded to the cover, and has announced that the games official product page will hit sega.com tomorrow.
Several hours ago, a Nintendo Power cover surfaced on the popular gaming forum Neogaf. The scan clearly stated that the issue would reveal information on a new Sega IP titled “Sonic & The Black Knight”, however a few sites began to doubt its legitimacy.
Various Photoshop “investigators” went to work hoping to expose the cover as a fake. I decided to go a different route and check to see if SEGA registered the domain name.
It turns out that they most certainly did register sonicandtheblacknight.com on what appears to be July 2, 2008. Below is the domain information extracted directly from the Japan Whois database. Read more…
