When You Wish On LBP, Disney Stars Are DLC

by Demi Adejuyigbe on October 3, 2008

Being that this is the internet, a bunch of rumours pass across the Ripten tipline in the span of a single day, and for the most part, we try to post as many as we can. Though the cries of a thousand deluded forumgoers screaming “Crysis upgraded for mobile phones!” will always be ignored, one tip piqued my interest, coming straight out of the November issue of EGM.

According to a NeoGAF member that recieved their issue early, Quartermann’s monthly rumour section held some pretty surprising information, namely that Sony’s 1st-party blockbuster LittleBigPlanet would have Disney-related DLC, as well as other third-party characters. Of course, this single piece of news wouldn’t suffice to fill Quartermann’s rumour section as a whole, so hit the jump to read the full list of rumours. Read more…

Media Molecule on LittleBigPlanet for PSP

by Keane Ng on October 1, 2008

Media Molecule are weeks away from shipping the quite possibly biggest PS3 game of the year (sorry MGS4), but they’re not resting on their laurels quite yet. Talking to Eurogamer, Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healy remarked on the possibility of a PSP version of the game:

There’s definitely scope for a PSP version. We’ve had discussions and talks…nothing concrete at the moment.

He’s even got the perfect idea for what it could be like - hit the jump to find out what LittleBigPlanetPortable could be. Read more…

Sony Scores Exclusive DLC for Mirror’s Edge

by Dan Landis on September 2, 2008

PS3 finally gets some exclusive DLC TLC.  Sony has entered into an “exclusive marketing agreement” with Mirror’s Edge publisher and evil overlords Electronic Arts to bring downloadable content to the title via PSN.  How’d they manage that without the exorbitantly deep pockets of Microsoft?

Sony has also gone on record to squelch rumors that Mirror’s Edge would be a timed exclusive, stating that the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC versions would all release on the same day. Read more…

GC 08: Sony Unveils EyePet

by Keane Ng on August 20, 2008

These days we’re awash in a flood of virtual pets (or should I say…petz) designed to capitalize on the booming casual games market. Sony has just revealed their take on the phenomenon, a PlayStation Eye utilizing game they call EyePet.

Here’s how it works: the Eye takes realtime, second-by-second footage of your living room, and displays it on screen - in a digital replica of your house where an adorable little monkey-puppy critter hybrid lives. The camera then magically provides seamless interaction between your “irl” room and your digital one. Move your hand to where your EyePet is and start tickling it, roll a ball at the camera and the thing will leap over it.

Scope the trailer after the jump to see all the simian-tastic cuteness and customization (you can give it a mohawk!) Full press release is waiting for you as well. Read more…

Heavy Rain Shown at Leipzig [UPDATE] Now With Trailer

by Patrick Steen on August 20, 2008

David Cage of Quantic Dreams discusses Heavy Rain in front of an eager audience at this years Leipzig Games Convention, just as we predicted. A gameplay trailer, all real-time, is shown at Sony’s conference and as soon as we get our hands on it, we’ll share it with you. Read more…

Its just a flesh wound.

Not content in holding up a large percentage of the market share with conventional thinking alone, Sony once again plans to go outside the box (and open Pandora’s) to reintroduce a lack of physical controllers into their games.

At the Edinburgh Interactive Festival yesterday, Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe was on deck to talk about the future of the EyeToy and the EyeToy: Play lineup. Sony’s own Sandy Spangler went into detail about how they planned to extend the EyeToy franchise from a “looking somewhat stupid” to “hey, is that Paris Hilton?” level, while peppering in numbers to represent their success into bringing 10.5 million EyeToy cameras into families across the world. Rumoured New PS3 Exclusive: Savage Moon

by Patrick Steen on August 13, 2008

If you’re a European detective, you might have discovered that the German software ratings board (USK) is listing every game to appear at the upcoming Leipzig Games Convention. At least, most of them.  This can result in some lovely new game titles, possibly spoiling certain publisher’s announcements.  Read more…

Still a Ghost of a Chance for Ghostbusters

by John Landis on August 5, 2008

No, this has nothing to do with the game or the movie, but who cares!

An article over at The Cut Scene hints that Sony Pictures, the IP owners of a certain Ghostbustin’ franchise, are still very much planning on releasing the Ghostbusters game, but… pretty much didn’t say anything but that.

The Cut Scene got into contact with a Sony representative of some kind (who could be their janitorial union leader for all I know) who stated that they are working “to evaluate various options surrounding the release of the ‘Ghostbusters’ video game.”

Yeah, good times. Read more…

God of War 3 Tearing Up E3 In July?

by Roly Reyes on June 24, 2008

Our source in France tells us God of War 3 will be at E3

I don’t care about what they say about the French, they’re okay in my book. They break NDAs, they’re the namesake of french fries, and on top of that they got a Sony representative to confirm God of War 3’s presence at this upcoming E3! Read more…
