LucasArts re-releasing Jedi Knight series for digital download
by Sam Naylor on September 15, 2009 at 1:55 am
Shacknews reports that LucasArts will be re-releasing their classic Jedi Knight/Dark Forces series on Steam and Direct2Drive on Wednesday. The release will include all of the games in the series, even the expansion pack Mysteries of the Sith. This follows from their recent re-release of Knights of the Old Republic on Steam, as well as the re-vamped Monkey Island franchise.
Direct2Drive are also having a celebration of 5 years of not-bad service by having a pretty good sale. Everything is $5/£5 in the sale, which includes Bioshock and Saints Row 2 at the time of writing. The games will change soon though, so keep checking back for the best deal.
Why Star Wars: The Old Republic is the Ultimate KOTOR 3
by Tyrell Jackson on January 28, 2009 at 6:54 am
While the Knights of the Old Republic series has not been the highest selling brand for LucasArts the same way that the Battlefront series has, the KOTOR games remain unique in their own way. For the first time ever, 4000 years before the events that set place in the movies, players found themselves introduced to a more dreamy time in the Star Wars space. A time when Jedi and Sith alike were in abundance and great disgust strewn between the two, a time where political affairs stood out on the forefront all while large corporations and mercenary groups extended their hand for a piece of the galaxy.
With gripping and immersive storytelling, proficient voice-acting, stunning visuals, and not to mention an incredible musical score, both KOTOR games have found themselves a permanent home in RPG and Star Wars fans alike. The only thing missing is the final piece to make it a complete trilogy. That final piece will come in the form of a MMO titled Star Wars: The Old Republic. Read more…
Leaked Star Wars Battlefront 3 footage
by Sam Naylor on January 15, 2009 at 11:01 amHot out of Free Radical’s open wound, Kotaku have found a goldmine of Star Wars Battlefront 3 footage, a game which the former company was working on. It looks, well, like the other Battlefront games. That’s no complaint; there’s no harm at all in sticking to a winning formula. Let’s hope the new developers Rebellion follow that line of thought, too.

Geeked-Out: The Power of the Dark Side (of Toast)
by Dan Landis on November 8, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Pretty much speaks for itself, doesn’t it? This Star Wars toaster burns the visage of Darth Vader into your breakfast. It even uses the power of the Dark Side to prevent your toast from landing butter side down, something the Light doesn’t teach.
Read on for the official geeked-out description that only a true Star Wars nerd could appreciate. Read more…
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Review
by Beau Rosser on October 27, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Star Wars is back! But is it though? Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is a mishmash of sub-par combat, mediocre platforming, exceptional storytelling and sound, and a whole lot of Wookie ass-kickery. Are the high points enough to save the game, or will its drawbacks “force” you to pass this one by? Read more…
Geeked-Out: Finally, a Good Reason to Drink Starbucks
by Chelsea Thompson on October 23, 2008 at 3:46 am
If you were anything like me, your favorite movie growing up was (is?) the original Star Wars Trilogy. In fact, even if you aren’t anything like me at all you probably love the original Star Wars movies. As a result, you get a lot of crazy fan art like homemade storm trooper outfits and, you know, Lego Han Solo in carbonite.
One Star Wars fan decided to go green and make his own TIE Fighter out of Starbucks garbage. Using stirrers for the skeleton, ribbed cardboard for the two outside panels and a cut-up coffee lid for the front of the cockpit, Star Wars fan Dan Winters has made a pretty fancy looking replica. “Pew pew!” sound effects not included.
As a result of Dan’s ingeniuty, Wired.com is also starting a contest to see who can make the coolest stuff using only Starbucks materials. Don’t let this dude show you up; save the environment and your money by making your own toys. Grab some cardboard cups and get cracking.

Geeked-Out: Star Wars Death Star Pumpkin Carving Instructions to Nerdify Your Halloween
by Beau Rosser on October 21, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Halloween is next week, which means the time has come for wicked pumpkin carvings.
Sure, you could make the typical owl, or “scary” face, or whatever, but a true nerd would make something far more radical out of their pumpkin.
What You’ll Need:
- A pumpkin (duh)
- Cereal sized bowl
- Sewing tape measure
- Color Magic Fright Lights
- Something sharp (ideally equipped with maximum carvability like this)
- The following instructions
In time, you’re going to have yourself a pumpkin that gleams creditability, and you’ll ask yourself in the mirror: “How are my balls so big?” And late at night, when the youngsters are out smashing the neighborhood’s jack-o-lanterns, they’ll see your lit up Death Star, nod with approval, and leave it be.
Respect.

Review: SoulCalibur IV
by Dan Landis on August 29, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Of all the new fighting games being released this year, SoulCalibur IV represents, like, half of them. Considering it doesn’t have much competition, SoulCalibur really didn’t need to try very hard to pillage the average fighting game fan’s cash. Instead of just phoning it in like some series do (*cough, Madden, *cough), Namco Bandai Games has hand-delivered a game that makes Street Fighter 3 Turbo Alpha Pro Edition look like Street Fighter 2 Championship Hyper Tournament Edition. Soul Wars Anyone? Soul Calibur IV To Include Star Wars Characters
by Roly Reyes on January 9, 2008 at 8:38 pm
hmm, surprised to see me you are…
Categorize this under ‘straight out of left field.’ Earlier today, 1UP’s James Mielke posted a news story revealing that Namco Bandai somehow acquired rights to Star Wars characters, specifically the Sith to rule all Siths, Darth Vader (only available on the PS3), and the tiny but mighty Yoda (only available on the 360).
