Team Fortress 2 Gets a Heavy Update (Complete with Sandvich!)
by Demi Adejuyigbe on August 19, 2008
Bravo, Valve. Bravo.
The video above is the latest “Meet the” TF2 video from Valve, showcasing what I’m convinced is the most powerful class in the game- SANDWICH. Weighing in at 120mg, it’s variety of weapons include, but is not limited to swiss cheese, two slices of whole wheat bread, and new meat. Okay, okay, so its not actually a playable class, rather than a portable medikit of sorts, but the second it becomes a playable class, you better grab some Saran wrap and head for the hills.
For the past week, Valve has been releasing, bit by bit, parts of the new update coming to the PC version of TF2 very soon. Hit the jump for the full details of the update, which include a new map, new achievements, and a new minigun for Sasha to be jealous of. Read more…
Half-Life 2: Episode 3 at E3? This E3?!
by Roly Reyes on June 26, 2008

Valve isn’t known for their prompt delivery of games. Quite the contrary, they often announce release dates and push the game back until it’s as close to perfect as it can become. Such has been the evidence of almost all their games, all the way from Half-Life to Left 4 Dead. So it came as some surprise to hear from the E3 folks themselves that Half-Life 3 will be at E3 in a few weeks and it’ll be a Microsoft exclusive.

Bioshock Just $30 On Steam
by Roly Reyes on March 11, 2008

Due to a hacking plasmid, Bioshock’s price has been cut in half.
It’s almost not fair. It’s been out for a few months, and I still couldn’t decide whether Bioshock would be my personal Game of the Year. But here it is again, at just $29.95. Read more…
Steam Adds Matchmaking, Sticks a Fork in Games for Windows Live
by Roly Reyes on February 18, 2008

Image of matchmaking in Left 4 Dead
Steam is quickly shifting from being just a distribution system to becoming an actual platform that’s single handedly making PC gaming what it needs to be. In an interview with CVG.com, Robin Walker (Valve Programmer/Designer) revealed that Valve is currently working on including matchmaking/lobby functionality for Counter-Strike: Source, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, as well as the Steamworks development tools. So expect AAA and indie titles alike to feature current and upcoming Steamworks features. Read more…
Steam Reaches 15 Million Users — WoW!
by Roly Reyes on February 7, 2008

Let’s preface this by saying that Steam is a free platform. You can go and create an account right now with no charge, and never buy a game. So while many will argue that it is unfair to compare the 15 million user base of Steam to the 10 million user base of World of WarCraft, which involves a recurring monthly fee, Valve is still an amazing company that really seems to understand their audience. Introducing Valve Steamworks: Tools for Publishers
by Roly Reyes on January 29, 2008
If you think back to 2002, when Steam first launched, I specifically remember Computer Gaming World handing out the not-so-coveted award of ‘Coaster of the Year’ to Valve and their Steam delivery platform.
Needless to say, Valve have turned that around to the point where most gamers would much rather purchase games from Steam instead of the brick and mortar store down the street. And now they’re once again pushing forward the industry that we care so much about with Steamworks.
