Cataclysm Beta: New 31-Point Talent Trees Released, Warriors Get Improved Bandage Spec

The latest Blizzard update to the Cataclysm Beta gives us a glimpse at the new spec bonuses, talent spec user interface, and the 31-point talent trees themselves. Granted the majority of this is still far from complete, however you’ll immediately notice that some of your favorite talents have been transformed into spec bonuses accessible only by that specific spec.

In addition there are now brief talent tree summaries that describes the specific benefits of each tree for newcomers. Most may seem fairly redundant, like “Beast Mastery” being described as a “master of the wild who can tame a wide variety of beasts,” though I can personally say that as an in-game warrior who started off killing most things with auto attack, a little hand holding isn’t a bad idea at the start.

Speaking of Warriors, those of us who that jokingly offered our healing services, teasing a non-existent “improved bandage spec” will soon realize that the joke was on us. Yes, that improved bandage spec is now a reality proving we really should watch what we wish for.

Death Knight

Blood
A dark guardian who manipulates and corrupts life energy to sustain himself/herself in the face of an enemy onslaught.

Frost
An icy harbinger of doom, channeling runic power and delivering rapid weapon strikes.

Unholy
A master of death and decay, spreading infection and controlling undead minions to do his/her bidding.

Druid

Restoration
Uses heal-over-time Nature spells to keep allies alive, taking on the form of a tree when the need is most urgent.

Feral
Takes on the form of a great cat to deal damage with bleeds and bites or a mighty bear to absorb damage and protect allies.

Balance
Can take on the form of a powerful Moonkin, balancing the power of Arcane and Nature magic to destroy enemies at a distance.

Hunter

Marksmanship
A master archer or sharpshooter who excels in bringing down enemies from afar.

Survival
A rugged tracker who favors using animal venom, explosives and traps as deadly weapons.

Beast Mastery
A master of the wild who can tame a wide variety of beasts to assist him/her in combat.

Mage

Arcane
Manipulates arcane energies, playing with the very fabric of time and space.

Frost
Freezes enemies in their tracks and shatters them with Frost magic.

Fire
Ignites enemies with balls of fire and the breath of dragons.

Paladin

Holy
Invokes the power of the Light to protect and to heal.

Protection
Uses Holy magic to shield himself / herself and defend allies from attackers.

Retribution
A righteous crusader who judges and punishes opponents with weapons and Holy magic.

Priest

Discipline
Uses magic to shield allies from taking damage as well as heal their wounds.

Shadow
Uses sinister Shadow magic, especially damage-over-time spells, to eradicate enemies.

Holy
A versatile healer who can reverse damage on individuals or groups and even heal from beyond the grave.

Rogue

Combat
A swashbuckler who uses agility and guile to stand toe-to-toe with enemies.

Assassination
A deadly master of poisons who dispatches victims with vicious dagger strikes.

Subtlety
A dark stalker who leaps from the shadows to ambush his/her unsuspecting prey.

Shaman

Elemental
A spellcaster who harnesses the destructive forces of nature and the elements.

Restoration
A healer who calls upon ancestral spirits and the cleansing power of water to mend allies? wounds.

Enhancement
A totemic warrior who strikes foes with weapons imbued with elemental power.

Warlock

Destruction
Calls down demonic fire to burn and demolish enemies.

Demonology
A warlock who uses both Fire and Shadow magic along with powerful demons.

Affliction
A master of Shadow magic who specializes in fear, drains and damage-over-time spells.

Warrior

Arms
Highly trained for battle with two-handed weapons, uses mobility and overpowering attacks to strike his/her opponents down.

Fury
A furious berserker wielding a weapon in each hand, uses a flurry of attacks to carve his / her opponents to pieces.

Protection
A stalwart protector that uses a shield to protect himself/herself and his/her allies.

World of Warcraft Tier 8 Stats & Bonuses Revealed, Talent Trees Updated

One of the latest posts on MMO-Champion reveals the tier 8 World of Warcraft stats and set bonuses. In addition, you can check out the latest plot to rain on your fun parade changes that will likely hit your talent tree in the 3.1 patch. BlizzCon 08: Diablo 3 Wizard Talent Overview

The Ripten BlizzCon 08 team got their hands on Diablo 3 not long ago, and spent a decent chunk of time checking out the new Wizard class.

One of the first things that they dove into was the talent tree. It should probably be noted that video cameras and photographs were strictly prohibited for both Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2. Just like WOW, there are 3 areas to spec into.

Hit the jump for a brief overview of the Wizard tree.

1:Storm Tree

Tornado and Blizzard are a few of the end talents for this tree, both are AOE type spells.

2:Arcane Tree

Magic Missile is similar to a Mages Arcane Missiles in WOW
Slow Time and Warp Space allow you to bend the space/time continuum, slowing mobs down substantially.
Arcane Orb is an AOE nuke type talent.

3:Conjuring:

Mirror Image creates exactly what you would expect it to create — a mirror image of the wizard
Meteor Storm is an AOE similar to meteor in Diablo 2.
Acid Cloud is a nature based AOE
Health and Mana can also be conjured up here
