As a Brit, I can’t help but feel a certain affinity with the Aussies. For a start, they have a delightful array of accents, but the main reason is that they spell words properly. Now they have a certain reputation- that they live free and don’t give two hoots about anything.

We just thank fuck that they don’t play in the 6 Nations.

I should warn potential viewers that to really get this video you should have seen Quentin Tarantino’s masterpiece Pulp Fiction. It’s not necessary, but it does make it a bit crazier. This is an American TV edit of a scene in the film, and it may well be the stupidest edit ever made.

Bit of an oldie today, but I recently remembered it, and to be honest I think it’s worth remembering. What follows happens to be one of the most catchy songs I have ever heard. It also happens to be the one that is impossible to sing aloud in any sort of public place. Get all settled in, and enjoy (massively NSFW lyrics).

Today’s talking point is the soon-to-be-legendary “UFO guy”. at Chicago’s O’Hare airport a UFO was apparently spotted, and a TV reporter decided to speak to one of the alien believers. What he got was a heartwarming piece of television.

Water, man! They could be, like, water or something. In all fairness this guy seems genuinely nice, and the reporter was a dick correcting him like that.

I, for one, will be welcoming our new watery overlords.

The Watercooler: The Director’s Cut of Star Wars Uncut

Today’s Watercooler is a complete showcase of the dedication of Star Wars fans. Star Wars Uncut was a project to rebuild Star Wars (A New Hope) in 15 second chunks, with fan-made material. It’s a complete mish-mash of styles, with live action scenes directly cut with paper animations and Lego stop-motion. Be warned, though- it’s literally as long as Star Wars.

If only other fans were this loyal. When you make a feature-length film in 15 second blocks about The Watercooler, I will consider you true fans.

The Watercooler: Apocalypse Later, Surf Now

Today’s content comes from our tiny newborn baby of a writer, Ben Nanke.

With the gaming community awaiting the March 6th release date of Mass Effect 3, lately the subject of alien invasion has been rattling around in people’s minds. While for some of the notably rattled souls amongst us alien invasion is always on the brain, occasionally a creative visionary gets inspired to take the initiative, and when they do, the end result is usually really freaking cool.

Case in point: Apocalypse Later, Surf Now, a short film produced by Youtube user Keef70.

Although originally assumed to be an alien invasion, according to Keef70 the short is actually portraying an evacuation from a man-made apocalypse. The surfers in the video are simply the chill dudes that felt like going out with a bang, doing what they love. You’ve got to admire the sentiment. Compelling story twists really define good science fiction, and this idea is definitely a cool one. Seeing as Keef70 is self-admittedly a filmmaking novice, I think I speak for everyone when I say this is damn impressive.

Long-time RipTen fans will remember that The Watercooler was, back in the day, the stomping ground of our very own Dan “The Man” Landis. Well now it’s my turn- and I just had to start off with a UK edition. Every weekday at 6 o’clock on Channel 4 here, there’s an episode of the best animated series of all time, The Simpsons. At the end of last year, this was happening just before it:

It’s fucking weird, and they never said why they did it- but it’s also really funny. And now I really want to watch The Pimpsons.
