“Great Job – Now GTFO YOU’RE FIRED!” Silicon Knights Lays Off 26 Employees
by Justin Arnold on October 7, 2008 at 3:10 pm
According to Canadian developer Silicon Knights, the layoff of 26 employees was – ahem – too human.
Joystiq reports that Silicon Knights is currently reshuffling talent for a forthcoming game. I don’t know about you, but when I shuffle a deck, I don’t throw away 26 cards during a game of poker.
The official Silicon Knights PR statement is available after the jump. Read more…
Silicon Knights Employees Voice Their Thoughts on Denis Dyack
by Roly Reyes on August 27, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Do you like this man? Y/N?
In honor of the recent release of Silicon Knights’ Too Human, MTV Multiplayer’s Stephen Totilo thought it’d be a good idea to interview some of the people behind the game. Most, including myself, would assuredly include the outspoken, and often controversial, Denis Dyack amongst the interviewees. Totilo specifically requested that Dyack not be among those to be interviewed. As a tease for the full interviews that will follow, Totilo asked Too Human’s Art Director, Director of Design, and Audio Director how they felt about their boss, President and Co-founder of Silicon Knights, Denis Dyack. Xbox 360 Review: Too Human (Too Hyped)
by John Landis on August 22, 2008 at 11:21 amEditors Note: In the process of reevaluating our review standards, the Ripten editorial team has agreed upon a no syndication policy for any review (past, present, or future) indexed in the Ripten catalog. In light of this, we have replaced the previous syndicated review with the exclusive Ripten review below. Thank you.

Too Human is one of those mythical games that just didn’t seem like it was going to see the light of day — the Duke Nukem of video games, if you will. Because it was in some sort of stage of development since Denis Dyack was in the womb, you know, I expected a lot.
The unfortunate downside of lots of anticipation is that most of the time things just don’t deliver what you’d imagined — this is one of those times. That’s not to say that it’s necessarily bad (it was indeed quite a jolly good time, ol’ chap), it’s just not up to the level that it had built up in its four generations of development. Read more…
Giant Bomb Raps About Too Human
by Roly Reyes on August 21, 2008 at 10:21 am
For those of you who aren’t really into the whole Hip-Hop scene, it wasn’t long ago that rappers Ice-T and Soulja Boy had a series of back-and-forth trash talking sessions about the state of hip-hop using YoutTube as their platform of choice.
Why am I telling you this? Because that backstory is necessary to understand the parody of the Giant Bomb video retort done in response to Kevin Pereira’s Too Human defense force video blog. Read more…
New Game Releases: 8/18 – 8/24
by Rangebar Merani on August 18, 2008 at 11:05 am
After ten years in the making and jumps from the PS One and Gamecube to the Xbox 360, Too Human is finally coming out this week and we’ll get to see if the game was truly worth the wait.
Other highlights of the week include Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty for the PS3, Two Worlds: Epic Edition for PC and I’m pretty hyped up for the original Mega Man for the Wii, via the Virtual Console. Read more…
The Life and Times of Too Human
by Keane Ng on August 17, 2008 at 10:37 pm
When Too Human comes out this Tuesday, it will mark the end of nearly ten years of development for one of the most beleaguered games of all time. Too Human has been spat upon; it has been put up on pedestals. Whether or not the game turns out to be as good as its creator has promised or is just mediocre, whether you’re “for” or “against” Too Human, it’s in the spirit of giving the game credit for making it this far that we present you with a brief retrospective of Too Human’s life, from 1999 to the present. Denis Dyack Explains Too Human While Trying To Keep His Hands To Himself
by Roly Reyes on July 29, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Keeping your hands to yourself is not usually a problem during an interview, however Silicon Knights President, Denis Dyack, was being scantily interrogated by two extremely attractive “lingerie-clad” Penthouse Pets of the Year, in Heather Vandeven (2007) and Jaime Lynn (2006).
Regardless, Double D was his usual self, waxing philosophically about mythology, technology, and its overall effects on society, as he answered questions about his company’s upcoming title, Too Human. You gotta hand it to the guy, whether he’s on the 1UP Yours podcast or in bed with the Penthouse Pets, he’s always on message and appropriate. Mrs. Dyack would be proud.
A note to our friends over at Dasgamer — if everyone at E3 had a chance to take part in an interview like this, it would almost make up for the lack of booth babes. Hint hint.
