Namco Bandai today released the first of a series of behind the scenes videos for Ridge Racer: Unbounded.

The video features words from a few of the members of the Unbounded team, some gameplay footage and real life drifting. Check it out below.

True Crime: Hong Kong’s Successor is ‘Sleeping Dogs’ – Debut Trailer, Screens and More

Square-Enix today revealed Sleeping Dogs as the latest game in the True Crime series. Activision is out, Squeenix is in, and so is the new title. Dig it?

Sleeping Dogs puts players in the shoes of of undercover cop Wei Shen, tasked with taking down the criminal Triads from the inside out. It will take place on the island of Hong Kong and the story will deal with themes like loyalty and betrayal.

Much is being hyped about Sleeping Dog’s Imaginative combat system. Supposedly, combat will seem natural and players will easily be able to perform martial arts from an extensive list of moves and easily pull off other tasks such as shooting while driving.

Like previous games in the True Crimes series it will be an open world. According to Square, “every street corner, market stall, harbour dock or city skyscraper can become an opportunity for intense shoot-outs, adrenaline-fuelled street races and intense, brutal martial arts combat.”

Shank 2′s Thrilling Co-op Survival Mode Detailed in New Trailer

Shank 2 is out this week and much of the buzz about the sequel is on it’s co-op survival mode. In Survival Mode, gamers can team up with a friend online or locally, and work together to take down hordes of goons in an action-packed, arcade-style brawl. Klei released a new trailer to help show what this new mode entails.

Shank 2 releases February 7th on PC, PSN and XBLA. Check out the trailer below.

Set in a pulp fiction world, Shank 2 puts players back in control of their favorite ex-mobster hitman, Shank. Klei has evolved the combat experience with precise controls, new weapons, smarter enemies, and more advanced combo techniques, all set to the backdrop of beautiful 2D art and animation. Players can put Shank’s trusty arsenal of handguns, chainsaws, grenades, plus all-new weapons to use in order to protect those close to him.

SSX Trailer Shows Off Global Events and In-Game Collectibles

Ooh, a new trailer for SSX! If you missed it, here’s the trailer for the first part of their Online Features series. If you have seen it, then welcome to in-the-know land, populated by you and myself. Cozy, am I right? Not as cozy as the alps, or antarctica, or any of the other amazing peaks you’ll be shredding down, around, into, over and other prepositional phrases with respect to SSX‘s awesome online features.

This trailer, first of all, wubstep, discusses Global Events and Geo Tags. SSX skips the traditional lobby system in favor of an ongoing events style system in the form of Global Events. There are live tournaments all over SSX‘s peaks and runs each with their own cost of entry (sometimes free, sometimes super duper expensive), duration of availability, and reward. They all have different criteria and settings, for instance some may say “No rewind”, or some may require armor or any other gear featured in the game. The more people who join the tournaments with costs and pot-style rewards, the bigger the payout. Players can also created their own custom events for themselves and their friends to compete in and even earn credits for.

The last bit of info covers geotags, a sort of player-driven collectibles feature which gives players the option to place a geotag anywhere on any level, earning them credits until a friend finds it. Ultimately not the most important thing ever, but it could work as sort of a Dark Souls-esque tool, placing geotags in front of really good jumps, shortcuts, or cliffs sending your friends to their doom. Who doesn’t want to send their friends to their doom?

Naughty Dog Says “The Last of Us” is More Than Just Another Zombie Game

A couple of days ago, Game Informer revealed the cover for their March issue featuring The Last of Us.

The Uncharted series, first teased us with The Last of Us at the November 2011 Spike Video Game Awards. The game will be a single player, third person, horror survival game. The title is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth across several U.S. cities. Survivors Joel and 14-year-old Ellie must kill and scavenge in order to survive in a world that has been decimated by a killer strain of fungus. Standing in their way are the other survivors and monsters that were once human, but have sense succumbed to the infection, now transformed into horrific zombie-like creatures.

More zombies? Yeap. Some (I) would say the zombie genre is overdone and needs to finally die. We’ve been up to our asses in the undead for the past several years in everything from video games, to TV and even Christmas gifts. Naughty Dog is promising something different, though, and the survival aspect of the game might make an interesting departure from wasting wave after wave of undead. The graphics, so far, look top notch; time will tell, but the hype is already building.

There is a little bit of science behind the game, inspired in part by the BBC documentary Planet Earth, which talked about the Cordyceps fungus. A particularly nasty strain infects insects, notably ants, and replaces the host tissue with its own. End result: the host ends up growing something that looks like a baseball bat out of its head, goes crazy, climbs up to a high spot, and explodes, spreading spores all over the place. Nasty as hell, but don’t worry, the fungus is not harmful to humans.

While that is pretty much all of the background we know for now, it’s possible the game will tie in with the Uncharted series somehow. An Easter Egg (the game kind, not the big ass rabbit kind) was spotted in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in the form of a newspaper with a headline related to The Last of Us story. Of course, actual tie-ins are not confirmed at this point, and it will likely have little bearing on the gameplay experience in either game, but it is neat, nonetheless.

Updated information will be available on Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us page. In the meantime, we’ve all of the available videos and compiled them for you here. I also dug up the BBC clip showing the fungus in action. Enjoy your lunch.

Aliens: Colonial Marines Gameplay Trailer Captures the Essence of the Classic Film

Aliens: Colonial Marines is the bold upcoming shooter by Gearbox and Sega that declared itself as a true sequel to James Cameron‘s classic Aliens.

Does it have what it takes to do the film justice? I have to admit, the trailer does a good job in capturing the essence of the classic film. Watch the gameplay video below and comment.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is scheduled to release sometime this fall on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

PS Vita Mortal Kombat is Vicious – First Brutal Gameplay Footage

The PlayStation Blog put up a video which features the brutal gameplay of Mortal Kombat on the PS Vita. Never before has Kombat on a portable screen looked so good. MK on the Vita involves not just the standard use of buttons, but also includes the use of the touchscreen and other specific features.

The PS Vita version adds an ambitious array of extra content, starting with every piece of DLC ever released on PS3. That means you’ll be able to play as Freddy Krueger, Kenshi, Rain, and Skarlet from day one, and select MK1 and MK2 retro-styled costumes to drape over your male and female ninja characters. The Vita version sweetens the pot with 15 more exclusive costumes, including MK3-styled garb for the ninjas.

There is a new trailer hitting the interwebs today for Trials Evolution. Methinks it got leaked early, just as they unfinished game leaked recently, because it keeps getting taken down.

I’m not why they’s want to take it down because it is AWESOME. Besides showing INCREDIBLE bike action, you’ve got THRILLING multiplayer and an INSANE Creation System (Yes, I am that psyched after watching said trailer). Watch the trailer below.

Motorstorm RC launches with the PS Vita in Europe on February 22, the North American release date has not been made public. A PS3 version is also in the works.

Capcom today released a new gameplay trailer for Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City which gives a closer look at members of both playable teams: Special Ops and Umbrella Security Service. The video goes through individual members of each team and details their purpose and specific skill sets.

The trailer is entertaining with fast and sometimes brutal action. Watch it to the end to catch a glimpse of an old friend.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is scheduled to release March 20th on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Behold, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning’s Epic Release Trailer

EA and 38 Studios released a launch trailer for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

With an all-star creative cast including Ken Rolston (lead designer of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) as executive designer, fantasy author R.A. Salvatore as the creative force behind the game’s universe, Todd McFarlane (creator of Spawn and legendary artist) as leading artist, and Hall of Fame pitcher Curt Schilling (owner of 38 Studios), anticipation for this game is at fever pitch.

NeverDead Launch Trailer is Zany, a Little Gory and Fun

Konami and Rebellion Developments have released a launch trailer for their supernatural shooter NeverDead.

NeverDead has an interesting premise. The protagonist is an immortal and can survive severe injuries. Over time, the player will lose body parts and will have to collect the removed limbs by rolling into them. This latest trailer displays this interesting gameplay mechanic with a little backstory and plenty of flair.

New Resident Evil 6 Dev Diary Shows Breathtaking Gameplay

This one’s for the film fans out there. This might be only a teaser but it tells you absolutely everything you need to know about something that will likely be pretty big news.

There’s going to be more info about this during the Superbowl. The only American sports event that people in the UK actually might watch- but we don’t have any adverts. You’ll have to see what the trailer is like for yourselves, then.

New Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Trailer Boasts Lore

With Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning due for release on the 7th of next month, a new trailer has been released: this one focusing on the lore of Amalur.

With Reckoning invariably being compared to another recent fantasy RPG, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, this marketing direction is an interesting tact. The Elder Scrolls series is somewhat famous for it’s intricately deep lore and background. The executive designer for Reckoning, Ken Rolston, is all to familiar with this, having been the lead designer on both Morrowind and Oblivion, the third and fourth installments of the Elder Scrolls series, respectively.

Will Reckoning be able to compete with a preestablished lore champion? Or will both games be able to coexist peacefully? Only time will tell.

Be on the lookout for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, February 7th. Available on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.
