NYCC 11: Phoenix Wright and Nova Revealed for Ultimate MvC3 – Trailers and Screens

Capcom has released a whole bunch of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 assets including trailers and screens introducing new characters Nova and Phoenix Wright.

Nova represents Marvel and is a member of an intergalactic police force. His powers enhanced strength, flight, injury resistance, and a specialized uniform. Representing Capcom is no other than ace attorney Phoenix Wright. Any objections you may have are quickly adjourned as you watch how awesomely silly his move set is in the videos below.

If you pay close attention to the first trailer you may see a teaser for a previously unannounced fighter (also in the last screen shot).

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this November. Enjoy the screenshots and trailers below.

AC: Revelations Gets a Double Dose of Awesome Trailers (Hook Blade & Beta)

Ubisoft has released two new Assassin’s Creed Revelations trailers. One of the videos shows off a new weapon called a ‘Hook Blade’, while the other celebrates the recently ended Beta. In typical Ubisoft fashion, both are awesome.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations releases November 15th on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Space Marine Demo Available Now – Watch the Announcement Trailers

Have to admit, I never thought I’d be stoked for anything Warhammer. I’ve never been the role-playing dungeon master type and the people I knew in college who collected pewter Warmhammer figures were, well…NERDS! But there is something about Warhammer 40000: Space Marine that beckons me.

Perhaps it is because the game a more than passing visual similiarity to one of my favorite series – Gears of War. Nonetheless, Space Marines looks good, the demo has landed and I feel the HYPE (downloading the demo right now).

New Street Fighter x Tekken Characters Announced, Screens, Artwork and More!

Street Fighter x Tekken producer Yoshinori Ono at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con revealed four more playable characters for the blockbuster fighting game. Dhalsim and Poison join the fray from the Street Fighter side with Steve and Yoshimitsu joining the fight on the Tekken side.

Following the announcement was a new of screenshots showcasing the characters, a piece of concept art for each one, a new cinematic trailer, brand new gameplay trailer, and last but not least, a poster including all four characters.

Street Fighter x Tekken is scheduled to release on Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime in 2012, with more details on the Playstation Vita version in the future.

X-Men: Destiny – Behind the Scenes With The Voice Actors

Dragon Age II – “Legacy” DLC Trailer

Bioware has released a new trailer for their upcoming DLC “Legacy” for Dragon Age II.

About two weeks ago new achievements were spotted for Dragon Age II revealing new DLC would be on the way. Today, Bioware has released a new trailer for exactly that. Check it out below along with some details about the DLC.

“Targeted by a vicious criminal cartel that are hunting “the blood of the Hawke,” you must put an end to their relentless attacks. Leave Kirkwall, and journey to an ancient Grey Warden prison in order to find the source of the aggression and uncover the harsh truth about the Hawke lineage. New PS Vita Trailer Shows Off New Features, Gameplay

The excitement for Sony’s latest challenge to Nintendo’s handheld dominance is reaching a fever pitch. We’ve seen trailers and live demonstrations of the device and you can color the Ripten staff impressed. Am I speaking for the entire staff without actually knowing their opinions on the subject? You betcha, and I’m not going to apologize because I’m pumped and I’m writing the article. Seriously though, it is shaping up to be an impressive piece of tech.

There’s a new trailer that shows off some of the Vita’s features that go beyond the realm of handheld gaming. Features called “Near” and “Party” allow you to coordinate events and let friends know where you are. Needless to say, the Vita will be a must-have device for stalkers on the go. The trailer also gives us some gameplay of the some of the top tier titles that Sony and their developers will be offering when the Vita releases, such as Uncharted and LittleBigPlanet.

Check out the video and then explain to me why Sony thinks it’s realistic to show gamers standing in the middle of a crowded park playing the Vita. Come on people, find a seat. It looks creepy to just stand around why caressing the back of the machine and smiling.

New ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD PS3 Trailers are Stunners

Team ICO has released two beautiful new trailers for ICO and Shadow of the Colossus that are simply stunning. Both games look great in HD.

The Team ICO Collection, which will include both of these remastered PS2 classics, will hit retailers in the US on September 27th and the EU on September 28th.

Both trailers trailers below may be in Japanese, but the awesome visuals translate to any language.

E3 2011: Assassin’s Creed Revelations Forgoes Stealth For Epic Action

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations was shown to us at Ubisoft‘s press conference and also behind closed doors during E3. The game demonstrated impressive new tactics which also hint at the story’s direction. Come along as we tell you all about it.

The newest gameplay, instead of touting Ezio as an invincible badass, shows the weakness that his old age has cursed him with, as well as the strength it has endowed him with. Glimpses of Altair haunt Ezio as he continues to work toward an end of the war between the Templars and the Assassins, using relics his ancestor leads him to.

The gameplay that was shown at E3 was the same both in the press conference and in my closed door meetings, and while it wasn’t exactly the sort of thing that a hardcore Assassin’s Creed fan such as myself wanted to see, it did a good job of showing off what the next game will be capable of. That being said, hopefully what was shown doesn’t represent what the entire game will be like.

It seems that Ubisoft Montreal got bored with the more expected stealth aspects of the series and decided to aim for OMGITSSOEPIC instead — the signature hidden assassin blades are still prevalent throughout the gameplay, but now over the top scenes will have you bringing down an entire fleet of ships with a flamethrower as well…

We started out with Ezio trapped in the city of Constantinople in 1511 A.D. — the setting obviously entirely different from the Italian renaissance scenery fans have grown accustomed to. Paths filled with spices, gypsies (the replacements for the courtesans in previous games) and a plethora of vibrantly colored silks displayed for sale. A meeting had been arranged to assist Ezio in his escape, but it involved the removal of a massive chain that was blocking Ezio’s ship from departing. In order to achieve this, a larger-than-necessary smoke bomb was used on some guards, but instead of only being able to throw the smoke bomb at his feet, Ezio can now aim and throw the smoke bomb wherever it’s needed. A bleeding effect from Desmond’s overexposure to the Animus has also made Ezio’s eagle vision evolve into Eagle sense, so he can “see” through smoke and other less-than-ideal conditions. This can be used to seek out foes and defeat them as efficiently as possible, but also makes it seem like the game could become too easy if the smoke bombs are available too readily.

Once Ezio had defeated the guards, he had to bring down a tower, similar to the destruction of the Borgia towers in Brotherhood. This released the chain that had been halting his progression, and allowed him to board one of the ships to kill everyone (of course). Ezio’s loyal brotherhood was of course available to annihilate the guards on the other ships while Ezio took action by igniting everything in sight. This however is where it started to feel like overkill, so hopefully it’s just because the demo was trying to show off everything it could within ten minutes. I’d just like to get back to, you know… assassinating people.

Anyhow, here is what we saw:

The multiplayer part of Revelations is very similar to Brotherhood, although added abilities obviously change things up a bit. The game modes have been expanded to allow for guilds and a more team-based style, however the basic cat-and-mouse mode was the only one available to play.

After we played for awhile, we were guided into a room where two real life Animus chairs were positioned in front of a TV, and the end of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood was explained to us.

At the end, when Desmond stabs Lucy and passes out, he goes into a coma and wakes up in the Black Room, which is an area where the Animus pretty much doesn’t work except for producing raw data. All of the bleeding of Ezio and Altair into Desmond’s mind has scrambled his mind, so he essentially has no idea what’s going on, and is trying to find a way out of the Animus. It seems like since this game is the end of Ezio’s part of the story, Desmond either must get out or figure out how to embody a dead guy. Fantastic.

While we still have five more months to wait for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, it seems as if it will definitely be worth it. With improvements to the gameplay mechanics, explanations of what happened at the end of Brotherhood, and an impressive ending to Ezio’s story, any Assassin’s Creed fan would be foolish to skip this when it comes out in November… unless you’re only on PC, in which case you can expect it in 2012.

Besides, if this epic trend continues, I think we all know there the series is heading next…

Activision Says Modern Warfare 3 Leak Was a “Win” For The Company

The Modern Warfare 3 leak was one of the biggest information leaks in gaming history. It was definitely a win for Kotaku, who managed to dig up a mountain of details on what is undoubtedly one of the biggest, if not the biggest game of the year – before it was even announced. However, according to Activision, it looks as if the leak may be turning into one big W for the company.

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg sent out a company wide email after the leak and subsequent game reveal. Within said email were some very choice quotes about what has transpired over the last few weeks:

“We were lucky in that we were very close to our scheduled reveal date, and therefore, we had a number of assets that had not yet been released, but were ready to go.”

Those assets turned out to be the four teaser trailers that were quickly released after the leak went viral, which let everyone know that Modern Warfare 3 was indeed coming, and that the leak was real.

“We also needed to deal with the fact that, like it or not, our launch had just begun.”

“Instead of panicking, we took the fire of interest that had been started by the leak, and poured gasoline on it… everybody involved delivered under pressure.”

The numbers don’t lie. Those trailers went just as viral as the leak. Soon everyone had stopped talking about Kotaku and started talking about Activision.

“We had over 4.8 million hits on the various Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 teasers over those first 48 hours. To put that in perspective, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops had 61,000 and 89,000 hits, respectively, in their first two days.

If you ask me, Activision has handled this leak extremely well and has turned all the attention from the leak to themselves and their upcoming plans for rolling out marketing content for Modern Warfare 3.

“Very few companies could have woken up with a crisis of this magnitude, and gone to bed with an undeniable win… everyone should be extremely proud.”

New Homefront Live Action Trailer is Awesome

THQ and Kaos Studios earlier released a new (and awesome!) video trailer for Homefront, their upcoming alternate history war title.

The trailer shows not only a brief and awesome piece of real footage, but also a bunch of previously unseen gameplay from the Xbox 360 version of the game. Check the trailer out below;

Your Mom Hates Dead Space 2

When your Mom doesn’t like something, well you’re nearly lawfully obliged to like it – Drinking? Yeah that’s fun! Going out with girls? Of course! Horrific monsters vomiting on poor souls lost in space? Fucking awesome!

EA has launched a new viral campaign for their upcoming survival-horror title “Dead Space 2″ depicting a number of Mom’s being subjected to pre-recorded footage of the horrific game. Seeing these old ladies truly scared by a video game is something that you really have to see to believe. Check them out below, and let us know your favorite.

Two Teenage Murdering Idiots Redefine Odd Couple, Confess Online While Playing World of Warcraft

A gruesome report coming to us from Canada tells the tale of two teenage boys (16 and 18) who raped and murdered an 18-year-old girl after she apparently ignored their textual advances. The victim, Kimberly Proctor, was found dead under a bridge with bodily burns so severe that she was only identified via her dental records.

The teenagers who committed this act (whose names are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act) were arrested and plead guilty to first degree murder after bragging about their deed in the online social setting of the popular MMO World of Warcraft. Evidence against the two includes detailed text messages that outline their plan to murder Kimberly and dispose of her body.

Several outlets are using this as a means to once again tie gaming to murder due to the fact that both of these jackasses played video games in their spare time. And if that’s not enough, the mother of the 16-year-old self proclaimed nihilistic atheist, and supposed mastermind behind the murder, is asking for public support from anyone who can “speak kindly” on the behalf of her son. The same son who ranted about his hate for human kind on his Facebook page (since deleted) that included a sketch of a naked woman with blood red organs strewn about.

I often found myself stumbling on my own words when trying to talk to a pretty girl in my early teen years, but I never thought to kill any of them for not taking an interest. If it was up to me (and I wish it was), I’d tie the limbs of these two morons to some wild west horses and send them running off in different directions. Ah well, that’s what I get for playing too much Red Ded Redemption.

First Image From DiRT 3, Trailer Premiering This Weekend

If you played the past few DiRT games, chances are that you enjoy the series. I’ve loved the past two games, and while Colin McRae’s sudden death in 2007 certainly put a hamper on things, the second game was a lovely tribute to the rally driver. That said, I’m beyond excited to see this first image from DiRT 3, courtesy of Codemasters’s Comm. Director, Richard Eddy.

To be specific, the above shot is a screenshot from the DiRT 3 trailer airing worldwide this weekend during the X-Games. To be super-specific, this is the 114th frame in the trailer. To be super-duper specific, there is in fact, dirt in the screenshot. Excitement! If you want to see more from DiRT 3, you should check out the X-Games this weekend, which started on the 26th, and ends on the 1st of August.

New Screens and Details on Square-Enix’s Mindjack

Prior to E3 this year, we saw teases of a game from Square-Enix, as a trailer showed up outside of the Staples Center. At the time, we only knew that the game involved a company called Nerkas Solutions Inc. We were all pretty confused, since we didn’t expect anything of its kind from Square, but later in the week they formally announced the game as Mindjack.

The concept behind this futuristic shooter is that you are fighting for survival amongst a band of agents- agents that just happen to be able to hack into vehicles, and even other people’s minds, so you can play as any character in the game. Sure, it’s not the first game to try the “hacking into characters” concept, but combined with the story and an exciting co-op mode, Mindjack seems too good to pass up.

That said, it’s great to see some new screenshots and a trailer for the game. The trailer explain’s the game’s concept, and introduces us to some of the characters and the conflicts in the game. It’s a very cheesy trailer, but it reminds me a lot of Metal Gear meets Deus Ex, but with more blue instead of brown — and I’m pretty sure one of the screens features an ape decked out in combat armor. Despite the cheese, I’m pretty interested to see more from this game, which we’ll definitely do before it hits stateside this October for the PS3 and 360.

New Trailer for Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time

For those of you that played and completed Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty, you probably remember the sly message after the credits, saying “The Quest Continues Fall 2009.” Insomniac Games made good on their promise, announcing Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time, the last of the PS3 trilogy, at GDC this past week. At the time, all we received was a short description, a title, and a logo. As of now, we haven’t even seen any gameplay for it- but we do have this brand new teaser trailer, courtesy of GameTrailers.

The trailer, as you see above, has a mysterious voiceover explaining the concept of time, and the people that seek to control it, one of them probably being Dr. Nefarious from Quest for Booty. As you near the end of the monologue, a Lombax is revealed as the mysterious voice, which probably hints to their possibly pivotal part of A Crack in Time. This trailer also gives an official time frame for the game, so you can look forward to it hitting the Playstation Network in fall of this year.

Tonight was the Spike TV VGAs, and though the show pretty much tanked as usual, I have to say that some of the footage shown during the show piqued my interest a lot.

If you didn’t see the trailers that were shown during the VGAs, you can catch every one of them after the jump, and you can even see the opening skit from the VGAs, of Jack Black having sex with various consoles above. Disturbing.
