Guild Wars 2 – Brutal New Charr Video And Wallpapers

No, not Charizard. It’s Charr week over at ArenaNet. Apparently that means they’re spilling all sorts of new details about one of the new playable races in Guild Wars 2.

The feline Charr of Tyria are a victorious race challenged by their own success. They have survived defeat, oppression, and civil war. They have returned, reconquered, and rebuilt their original homes. Their mighty fortress, the Black Citadel, dominates the surrounding ruins of the human city of Rin, and their non-magical technology is the mightiest in the land. Yet despite their success, they are challenged by divisions among their people, the power of the Elder Dragons, and the ghosts of their own victories.

The Charr have been present in the Guild Wars universe forever – but now they are a playable class. /Woot

Better yet, today ArenaNet and NCSoftreleased some gorgeous new wallpapers and a video showing off some of the Charr environments. They look Charrific. What!? You think of something better!

Exclusive Duke Nukem Reloaded Wallpapers. Just For You – Just From Us.

As you may or may not know, RipTen is the #1 supporter of Duke Nukem Reloaded, the officially licensed Unreal 3 remake of Duke Nukem 3D. Luckily for you, that means we get access to all the gritty details before anyone else. We also get access to Interceptor Entertainment’s latest artwork and assets.

Speaking of which, check out these brand new, bad ass wallpapers project lead Frederik Schreiber and his team whipped up.

As many people have undoubtedly noticed, this is NOT the Duke from Duke Nukem Forever. This is an older, darker, grittier Duke. Personally, I like this Duke better.

Here’s what Frederik had to say about it:

Our Duke Nukem, is a different and more serious take on the character.
We see Duke Nukem as an older character. He’s scarred, he’s a bit dark, and gritty.

He has experienced a lot through his life, but when he’s needed, he’s still up to the job – He never backs down.

We compare it a bit to Stallone – Rambo from First Blood, to Barney Ross from The Expendables.

Barney Ross is still a Bad Ass, muscular, and could probably kick Rambo’s ass. But you know he’s been through a lot, and that shows.

Its important for us, that you know we aren’t trying to alienate the character from our fans. But its also important that we are doing something different. Different from Duke Nukem 3D; and also different from Duke Nukem Forever.

We are not here to compete with DNF – We are here to supplement it, with something new and fresh.

Warfare Wallpaper Contest Voting Now Open

We’ve finally decided on the ten best wallpapers submitted for the Ripten and Echo1 contest, and now it’s up to you loyal readers (and all you disloyal bastards as well, not that we blame you) to crown the kings and queens of wallpaper making. Or to put it another way, which of the creators do you think most needs a realistic-looking airsoft machine gun that may or may not get them arrested?

Head over to the contest page to check out the ten best wallpapers (according to we, the dictators) and cast your vote for your favorite. The top three wallpaperers will receive an MS-2 airsoft rifle, fully equipped with battery-powered automatic BB-spewing action and kung fu grip. Voting closes in 12 seconds, so you better go do it now.

What’s good news for foreigners who prefer content on the US store, is that US PSN cards are starting to appear, meaning gaining access to those goodies is all the more simple. Moreover, the indigenous children in the country can buy content without owning a Credit Card.
