by Patrick Steen on August 12, 2008

After receiving the Edge Award for Interactive Innovation, Halo 3 creators Bungie have thanked the publication via a highly entertaining video.  In it there are hints towards a new Halo development, but not a new game as many have been suggesting. Read more…

by Dan Landis on July 25, 2008

In a recent opinion poll, 74.7% of the PlayStation 3 owners surveyed considered Xbox Live to be the online service with the best feature set when compared to PlayStation Network and WiiConnect24.  In addition, 71.4% of the people that actually own an Xbox 360 feel as though Xbox Live is worth the subscription fee. New 360 Dashboard Update is Entirely Optional

by Dan Landis on July 21, 2008

Major Nelson let loose on his latest podcast that the upcoming Dashboard update for the Xbox 360 will be entirely optional.  Well, you’ll most likely still have to download it, but you can continue to use the old blades system and even forgo the new Miis Avatars and stick with your Gamerpic.  Oh, and you can do it all in game. New Xbox 360 Dashboard Screenshots

by Roly Reyes on July 16, 2008

During Monday’s Microsoft Press Conference, the company announced what they are calling the ‘New Xbox Experience.’ One would imagine that is the reason why we were system update-less this Spring, because they’re completely reimagining and revamping their user interface to something more of a Vista-esque, Zune-ish nature. Get Ready For the New Xbox Live Experience

by Dylan Duarte on July 14, 2008

Ripten’s own Andrew Podolsky reported on the upcoming “new Xbox Live Experience” in his Microsoft Press Conference coverage, but now we have more details via Major Nelson. Read more…

Got the (deep breath) Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta (phew) up and running on the 42 in LCD and roped my roommate, Josh–a gamer and game programmer–into sharing his thoughts along with mine.

It’s really barely a taste of what the final product will be like, but you at least get a sense of what the shiny HD will look like. Click through so you know what you are disagreeing with before you post nasty comments. Read more…

Hopefully people will now actually die when you shoot them in the head.

It’s been talked about for months, rumored for weeks, and now it’s finally here. The Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 4 has now been officially patched. The title update will be available the next time you load up the game (as long as you’re connected to Live). Airstrike the link to get the full details on what this patch features. Read more…

Microsoft Had My 360 Whacked (And Other Fun Stuff)

by Dan Landis on January 16, 2008

tony-controller1.jpg

Anyone who’s been following the news (or rumors, as Microsoft would have you believe) knows that I have not been having much luck with my 360. From the general Xbox Live problems that many people are experiencing to the disappearing achievements that I supposedly made up, things are not working the way they should. Microsoft apparently didn’t appreciate my whistle-blowing, however, because they’ve decided to shut me up by having my 360 clipped. Read more…

What good is being the Xbox Live spokesperson, if you’re unable to speak?

Xbox Live’s problems are old news by now. Since the surge in users this Christmas, the service has been very wonky, to say the least. Those of you wondering why the folks Microsoft haven’t been keeping us updated on the situation, wonder no more. Thanks to a lawsuit filed by three Texas residents, they can no longer update us on the situation. Read more…

Impressions: The Club

by Adam Montgomery on January 10, 2008

zecloob.jpg

Bizarre Creations’ perspective on the action genre made The Club an intriguing inclusion on the release schedules. They lack the genre-experience for this game to be conventionally interesting; it’s a new type of product from a developer known for racing and two-dimensional retro. Read more…

achievement_unlocked1.jpg

As if the recent Xbox Live issues hadn’t caused enough problems, it now appears that you can actually lose an unlocked achievement as well. I’ve had a recent run-in with this disturbing occurrence, and as always, 1-800-4my-xbox’s Max was there to help me out — and of course by help me out, I mean annoy me while I try to connect to a real person. For anyone who someone isn’t aware, Xbox Live has seen better days. This past week, gamers have been having tremendous trouble using the service, whether it be with matchmaking, lag, or just flat out not being able to go online. Well, if this rumor is correct, we may see a little compensation from Microsoft. Read more…

XBLA Review: Sensible Soccer

by Adam Montgomery on December 27, 2007

swos-copy.jpg

It’s the elegant, immediate control system of Sensible Soccer that makes it so enduring and influential. To play soccer, you need to kick, so give them a “kick” button. Oh, and we should let them run too. Finished. Read more…
