Come Monday, September 29th, Xbox LIVE is shutting down for a full 24 hours. Starting promptly at midnight, everything related to the LIVE service, including a lot of the features on Xbox.com, will be unavailable as Microsoft prepares you for “the cool new stuff coming your way in the new Xbox experience”.

In a recent opinion poll, 74.7% of the PlayStation 3 owners surveyed considered Xbox Live to be the online service with the best feature set when compared to PlayStation Network and WiiConnect24.  In addition, 71.4% of the people that actually own an Xbox 360 feel as though Xbox Live is worth the subscription fee.

During Monday’s Microsoft Press Conference, the company announced what they are calling the ‘New Xbox Experience.’ One would imagine that is the reason why we were system update-less this Spring, because they’re completely reimagining and revamping their user interface to something more of a Vista-esque, Zune-ish nature.

According to the folks over at the Angry Pixel, their source at Microsoft informs them that the upcoming Halo RTS, Halo Wars, will make its way to PC as well as Xbox 360 and feature cross-platform play via Microsoft’s Games for Windows – LIVE.
